Well Done! A "pat on your back" thread!

Can’t, it’s painful.

Edit: the ER specialist who visited me concur with me it’s the ligament.
Six months in a splint.

Damn :persevere:

Mine do exactly the same thing @komemiute. Every once in a while I’ll have this happen. Normally if I pull a strap funny.

You can see how they’ve never healed properly. Middle finger hurts all the time

I do appreciate though that a broken finger/hand in a ‘pat on your back’ thread is max on-topic in a way.

Yeah @komemiute hope you’re ok - that looks painful, so thanks for the spoiler blur as well.

Confirmed ligament.
Well, no flying for me.

LOL, I know, right?

Though it’s strangely painless…
Discomfort? Hella.
Weird? Yup.

Pain? Unless I squeeze the part, nope.

So what happened? Did you put the heavy springs in your stick? Guess you won’t be using it much with such a busted hand. On the other hand… you can still use the rest of the hand. You’ll just have to get handy I guess.

There’s these big old supplement pills you can buy over the counter that contain a lot of Glucosamine. These are meant for old people with arthritis, but for hard-working, hard-playing gentlemen like us they help a lot in aiding the body with restoring and growing those ligaments. I discovered them back in my MMA fighting days. Plenty busted ligaments back then.

No no no! You can fly and shoot and do all the rest (except type quickly). But if you do fly, anyone who happens to be sitting to the right of your joystick may feel continuously insulted.

Rofl! You guys crack me up! :joy::rofl:

@schurem I swear it was a normal movement.
Just somehow a ligament snapped.
Thanks for the hint about the pills.

@smokinhole eh, I have to try.
I have the sneaking suspicion it gets painful to hold the Warthog for extended periods of time

That’s why you had kids! Time to make them do the flying and you can be the WSO…

Or just in time to be a Hind gunner

Slight correction. It’s 8 weeks in a splint and not 6 months! Well, much better.

How do you communicate properly?

Luckily in Germany it’s not so crippling.

I am not good with engineering.

I have my collective a K51.

Yesterday I bought an IKEA Markus chair to replace my broken office chair. Today I assembled it.

The chair is reasonably priced £150.00 and extremely comfortable. I would buy it again.

The collective comes with a steel mounting plate bent in the middle through 90 degrees. Both of the two angles have slots to attach to the chair and the collective. The designer used four wood screws into the bottom of the chair. Others remove an armrest and attach to the chair using bolts.

The bolts on the Markus armrest are too big for the slots in the mounting plate. Hence my earlier comment I may need engineering support. Sitting in the chair I contemplated the four wood screw method and would remove one armrest to facilitate this. Rocking back and forth in the chair I wondered if I could enable a simpler method to get the required result.

I got two cable ties and attached the plate fore and aft. Too wobbly as the bottom swung about. That wont work. More thought required. Two more cable ties fixed that. It is now rock solid, comfortable to use and the arm rests are still in place. Two ties fix in place for/aft/up/down. The two more fix the base from moving in the roll axis. Happy me. Now where did I put my dcs laptop?

I need to figure out a way to prevent my rolling chair from rolling when I’m pressing on my rudder pedals. Every stab on them is a lesson in Newtonian physics…

And from rotating when verifying I’ve successfully trapped the bandit at my six (in VR).

My foam pads (for the haptic feedback thing) cover the rudder ‘reactionary’ forces

I bought feet to replace the casters, but if you still want casters then take a flat board long enough to mount the pedals to and extend to the chair’s front wheel and cut a slot in it, which acts like a wheel chock, keeping you tied to the pedals. That’s the cheap way!
