It’s an option that should be considered. I was using janky weird 4g Internet for a year where the providers were more unreliable than the equipment. It was a stopgap, in the end.
Nothing beats proper infrastructure spending:

I have no clue either what’s happening. It seems unlikely that your pc is suddenly blocked on the router.
I have previously had weird problems using an old USB WiFi receiver. Could be a device/driver issue.
Just to rule that out, you could try another WiFi receiver. Otherwise I really don’t know either.
Thanks man and sorry for the bother.
OK it’s a bit later but thanks to a subtle input from my GF I solved the issue.
It’s definitely the antenna. Can’t tell precisely if it’s the age, or the cheap manufacturing, but the solution was so easy…
I connected to my PC my phone with the SIM Data off, only connected to the WiFi.
Activated the USB tethering option and ta-daah… internet goes without issues.
The speed is a constant 2Mbit per second, not great but at least I can work with it.
So last week I got a call from my provider offering me to renew what I thought was the same 2 year contract for basically half the price. Turns out it was quite the upgrade.
Previously I had 1000/100Mbit/s connection but today when I synced my photo folders to my online backup it was suspiciously fast so I checked my router and was surprised to see that it now says that I have up to 1100/550Mbit/s.
Ran a speedtest, et voilà:
Nope. Not going to like that, no Sir!
But yeah it’s very nice to have good internet.
Earlier this year I took the plunge and signed up to Starlink which has been pretty good overall. Speeds do vary and it seems that they drop during the busy evening hours, usually to about 50 Mbps down, and 20 up, but other times of the day I can get in excess of 200Mbps down.
Today a Spectrum sales guy turned up at my door to tell me that they now have service to my area. Although I am managing just fine with Starlink, and I really don’t want another cable run to the house from our electricity pole out in the yard…. a 1 Gbps fiber connection for $50 less per month than I’m paying for Starlink seems like a really good deal. I guess I won’t have to worry too much about streaming data for MSFS 2024 now. Hopefully I should be hooked up by the end of the weekend.
Nice!

Notable how Starlink has better uplink speeds than Australia’s “third world speeds at first world prices” NBN

But on the plus side, I notice that we have now caught up with Kazakhstan WRT up and download speeds (excluding Starlink).
This is not a joke!
