What we hearing? - Mudspike plays (2020)

This has been stuck in my head for two days now.

Any opinions?

My children dig it (I translated the lyrics for them but they liked the music before that).

I think this is awesome

and I bought an acoustic bass just to learn to play it (not very well, as it turned out - I do have a video, I’ll admit) and then sold it again!

Here’s a classic by the same guy:

I love PJ Harvey…

Back in 1996 Nick Cave released an album titled ā€˜Murder Ballads’. A rather gruesome collection of songs but the man is a genius and he included two duets.

The best known is probably ā€œWhere the Wild Roses Growā€ with Kylie Minogue, but I think the better of the two is this one:

Sorry late to the party here. But when that little girl told Kermit she loves him, my heart melted

This has been on repeat since yesterday. It’s kind of amazing.

What struck me most about moving to North Carolina was that I found out it wasn’t until the 1960’s that blacks couldn’t eat with whites. WTF. wtf. Never understood the race hate thing. Can’t believe it’s still going today.

I have been on a bit of a Nick Cave binge over the past few days… I’ve been a fan since since Birthday Party and my rebellious teen punk phase & have all his albums. I doubt I could name a favourite artist but he is in my top 10 (maybe 5?).

Anyway, if you like dark & depressing (i.e. you are also a Leonard Cohen fan) give him a try. I always come back to this song though - uplifting and painfully sad at the same time.
