I must say that’s a bizarre entry point for the MCU that started with Iron Man in 2008.
Over two dozen films, multiple TV series on networks and streaming across the past decade, and this is like the 5th one on D+ alone I think? Wanda, Falcon, Loki, What if?..yeah 5th.
Going back to watch them all now is a bit like discovering X Men comics in 2021 and deciding you want to read them all from the beginning over 50 years ago… You’ll need to pick and choose!
I can say all the films and the D+ series are worth seeing at least once. The rest you could skip without losing anything.
What I meant is I haven’t seen any of The Avengers films- 2012 original, Age of Ultron, etc… I’ve seen most of the individual character movies. Thus Hawkeye is “new” to me. So far in the Disney+ series, it delves into Hawkeye’s past with flashbacks.
Before “9/11” I bought a lot of Film-Noir thrillers in the US (less shipping, and then a lot more “Noirs” released on DVD than in Europe). Last month I have decided to re-watch them in December; some of these “Noirs” on Blu-ray too.
Yesterday: Fallen Angel from 1945 ( Fallen Angel (1945) - IMDb).
I like the scenario; less the wooden actor Dana Andrews; but during WW-II a lot of actors were fighting the Japs and Germans. So, “Hollywood” had far less choices regarding actors. (Andrews had 2 kids at home, so no war for him).
I began watching this last night, but decided to turn out the light when my iPad hit me in the chin. I have just under 500 skydives and have often wondered what the hijacker’s chances of surviving. Stepping off of the airstairs at a requested 170 kts is completely survivable. But at night over rough, heavily wooded terrain, ostensibly with a bag of money connected to either you or a separate parachute (he demanded 4). The chances seem slim and it sounds like at least some of the money was found in the Columbia river. Looking forward to the conclusion.
Not the greatest but good enough for a viewing this Holiday season. Some adult humor so keep that in mind before watching it with the kids. Had a PG-13 rating on release which is a pretty accurate assessment of its content.
I played the first one when it came out on PC (never had original xbox) and it never grabbed me. Didn’t play any later ones.
Hope the show does a better job.
Written and directed by Academy Award® winning filmmaker Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog is “mesmerizing,” “astonishing,” “a masterpiece.” Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
I got a chance to watch it last night. Simply an astonishing, superb movie. Did not expect how it ended. I highly recommend it.
