What we watching? – Mudspike at the movies

Agreed, it felt so flat. One of those movies where you could get the same out of it just by staring at the poster for 2 hours - it’s Brad Pitt in a spacesuit looking constipated. It was also one of those space movies (with Gravity being the worst one in this category) that makes everything look great but then expects people to forget how basic physics works. I don’t know why it irks me so much, and I get suspending disbelief for magic engines etc, but when they fling themselves off somewhere and then momentum in zero g isn’t a thing then it gets my goat. :goat:

I’ve been watching Get Back in 30 min increments, like it’s a daily series. It doesn’t get old that way.

This is what they filmed back in 69, it wasn’t fake reality like today. Real life is often boring most of the time!
The scene where Get Back appears out of thin air was very chilling to me.

Yeah - saw at the cinema so have not bothered with it on Amazon.

Saw The House Of Gucci last Week at the cinema. Some big names in this…well okay maybe not Adam Driver or Lada Gaga.
It goes on a long time…felt like it went on for 6 hours to me… probably closer to 3 though…yawn.

Tom Arnold and the Harrier sequence made that movie!

I’d say Jamie Lee Curtis and Tia Carrere helped too.

I absolutely love True Lies.

It’s probably Cameron’s least remembered film, aside from The Abyss (depends on the person).
Bill Paxton was just great in TL.

I liked TR and TL but never really got into Last Action Hero. It was ok, but I never wanted to watch it again.

OMFG! I loved The Abyss!

I’ve been waiting for a Bluray/UHD of the Abyss for over a decade now, still only have the old DVD. :frowning:

I also found out the technology to actually shoot the movie was really gargantuan and the shooting really hard on all the crew…

Micheal biehn was legitimately scary in that film.
I absolutely loved The Abyss. I come from a scuba diving family and it just was unbelievable at the time to see the way it was shot

Didn’t several of them almost drown while filming or do I remember a different movie?
(Maybe mixing it up with Titanic, I am fairly sure one of the main cast almost drowned in a set there).

For reference. A brilliant piece.

Especially the extended edition.

The Abyss released in 1989!? Need there really be any more reminders how time is flying? I remember the digital effects being mindblowing.

I haven’t seen any of the Avenger movies (along with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, X-Men … yeah one of those people), but I started watching the Hawkeye series on Disney+ with my kids. Enjoying it so far.

I tried to watch the Black Widow one released recently but I found the main character…somewhat distracting to the plot.
