Here’s the thing- I’m going with a good friend of mine to the movie theater now and then and have no idea what to watch this time… nothing is really attracting is- but we have a mild feeling of detached interest about Gladiator 2, or Venom 3 or the Joker sequel.
Definitely not foaming at the mouth about anything- unlike when I went with him for Dune 2 or Deadpool 3.
OMG OMG! The original 1984 Red Dawn on Amazon Prime!
I saw that in the movie theater with my dad and my constant thought throughout the movie was how did a few hundred Soviet and Cuban paratroopers take over the US? As a kid I failed to see the “bigger picture” so I didn’t realize that the takeover of the small town in the movie was just one example.
I’ve been watching Dune: Prophecy. Having read the Sisterhood of Dune book many years ago, a lot of it is familiar to me but a lot is not. Hart wasn’t in the book, and a bit fuzzy on what things I may have just forgotten.
I
Edit: wrong thread.
My wife and I are watching the Deep Space 9 episode S3E11 “Past Tense” right now.
It is quite funny, because the episode takes place in the year 2024.
Edit, August 30th 2024 to be precise.
Got the kids to sit down and watch indiana jones and the last crusade. They loved it.
A lovely evening
Yeah, a lot of us were hoping the Bell Riots would actually happen.
Watched the first episode of Star wars - Skeleton Crew Goonies
It is well done & it did remind me of some beloved movies from when I was a child but I am way outside of the target demographic. Kids will love it.
How do you like it? I’m trying to enjoy it. But it’s been a slog.
I’m currently watching the “Wagner” tv miniseries from 1983 starring the incomparable Richard Burton in the lead role.
Currently going through the Gotham TV series - which is a lot better than I would have thought.
I watched two or three seasons of it and enjoyed it far more than I thought I would.
Lots of little easter eggs in there if you are somewhat familiar with DC comics. In fact I am pretty sure I missed many because I was never that into DC.
I have seen some of the films over the years and the original series but no idea on the comics.
Oooh, such a great episode arc.
It’s amazing how frighteningly accurate the depiction of that time and place 29 years ago has ended up being.
When Cameron Monaghan shows up as the Joker (minus the name because of some copyright or something) Gotham really kicks into high gear.
He plays Cal Kestis in the Jedi Survivor games and was just brilliant. You will say “Jack who?” After seeing his portrayal.
As for Dune series, my wife finds it really slow but has never really cared for Dune. She liked the Denis films well enough, but not really the Lynch or miniseries versions.
I enjoy it because its very character based, not a ton of action though.
I had a post on the socials on the day about how the media must be suppressing the news of the Bell riot… but nobody got it
I finally got around to watching this after it was recommended by a friend ages ago, his brother was an extra (in the audience) and I wasn’t in any rush because I thought that was why. I didn’t realise that it would be quite as good as it is. Especially if you like mockumentary style films.
What We Do in the Shadows sets the standard for 21st century mockumentary films. This is Spinal Tap was the previous standard.
