Not sure this has been recommended already, but it’s really worth watching
On 26 September 1983, the computers in the Serpukhov-15 bunker outside Moscow, which housed the command center of the Soviet early warning satellite system, twice reported that U.S. intercontinental ballistic missiles were heading toward the Soviet Union. Stanislav Petrov, who was duty officer that night, suspected that the system was malfunctioning and managed to convince his superiors of the same thing. He argued that if the U.S. was going to attack pre-emptively it would do so with more than just five missiles and that it was best to wait for ground radar confirmation before launching a counter-attack.
Saw Citizen X several years ago. As I seem to recall it was an HBO original film. I definitely agree with your short review @Scoop.

Yes it is. And it was a very good film.
I am going to have to look for this. Looks very interesting.
It is also a true story
That it was based on actual events was the most disturbing part for me.

After I read this I watched the movie.
Reagan had given his Evil Empire speech in the spring.
Five missiles launched at the USA. I have my doubts we would be here today.
Brilliant…
Yeah… The saddest part is that participating in it made him want to quit his acting carreer.
Speaking of which, Connery passed away…
Great video find @MigBuster.
I learned more history after playing IL-2 1946 and getting caught up in that community than I ever did in School.

Wow, I just watched Kajaki. That was not easy to watch.
That movie should be made mandatory viewing for any soldiers heading to areas with mines / UXOs, if it isn’t already. I remember not everyone taking the minefield training exercises before our departure to Kosovo as seriously as they should have.
Its heartbreaking isn’t it. An incredible film
My wife and I finally watched 1917 last night. We booked to see it at the cinema before COVID and we missed it.
We watched it in 4k last night on Prime and it was wonderful. A fantastic film.
A month or two back @Troll reminded me of the story of the 11 Norwegians who were executed by the Germans and the 12th man who escaped to Sweden in a feat of superhuman endurance. I think we were discussing the ‘Shetland Bus’ at the time. (not a bus, a system of smuggling people and munitions in and out of occupied Norway. @Troll’s wife I think works near the memorial in Tromso. Quite by chance I watched the film tonight. I commend it as well worth watching.
Thanks wheels I really enjoyed that.
