What we watching? – Mudspike at the movies

I remember Relic Hunter and the Lost World TV shows from the 90s as sorta somewhat Indiana Jones clones, but I’m too young to remember the others. :man_shrugging:t6:

Yes yes yes and yes.

EDIT: Truth be told even Jamie Lee Curtis was a stunner in that movie.

Agreed!

That movie was epic.

My parents weren’t movie people, much less movies in theaters people. That’s one of the few movies they went to. Back in the day, we went to the Florida Keys at Christmastime and went fishing. One of our fishing spots was the parking lot where the Harrier landed in Marathon. They were quite geeked to see that.

Yeah, that is a great scene! Movie too. Lots of fantastic one-liners (“they were all bad”) and perfectly cast with Jamie, Tom Arnold, and Bill Paxton.

Still one of my all-time favorites. It’s a pity they never made a sequel- it was in the works, but post- 9/11, nobody had the stomach for making light of terrorism (understandably).

Perfect example of terrorists being inconsiderate of others’ schedules.

I remember the snarled traffic downtown with the Harrier on the crane amidst the buildings. I was in college at the University of Miami at that time.
Sure it looks great on screen, but the poor locals!!11111 :face_vomiting:

Like the Timothy Dalton Bond film License to Kill, it also was filmed on the old 7 Mile Bridge with the new one next to it clearly in the all the shots.

No clue (2013)

Amy Smart is the ONLY reason to watch.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1966)

I just did not find it funny even though some of the greatest comics of the era were in the movie.

Did You Hear About the Morgans? (2009)

Not a great flick by any means but it had its moments.

Iliza Shlesinger: Unveiled (2019)

Great looking gal but I did not find her material funny. My being too old is the likely culprit.

OMFG I just love her humor! I have a whole youtube playlist!

I watched Ford vs Ferrari on the plane last night. A classic car movie. I remember seeing advertised when it released and one scene torqued me enough to avoid the film. In the scene Matt Damon (Shelby) gives Henry Ford a balls to the wall ride in the GT40 to make a point. By the time the car skids to a stop, Ford is a howling teary mess. That’s where the promos stopped. Funny. But I just thought it was stupid. But the real conclusion to the scene has Ford expressing the wish that if only his granddaddy could have experienced what his name had achieved. So the stupid scene converted to a meaningful one; at least in my eyes. So I am glad I finally gave it a watch, even if 3 years late. And I totally agree with the implied primary message of the film: Suits are ***holes.

An American Carol (2008)

A Parody attempt that just fell flat. I knew about 15 minutes into the movie it was not going to be any good but I soldiered through it hoping that my initial impression would be altered. No such luck…

I’m not sure yet how I feel about this…

Why reboot? Why not continue. Sci fi stuff has the ability to stop and start up from further along in time.

Right? There’s the Dilgar War, the Earth-Minbari War, 20 years before Sleeping in Light, the fall of the Psi Corps… So many other stories.

My guess is they need to establish a new cast first. Once they do that, maybe they will be able to go do the Telepath Wars and what happened with the scavenged Shadow tech.
