Where Are You Photos [2022]

I seriously thought that was a real cat. The perspective totally threw me.

The cat is eerily good indeed.

I bet in time your SLUF will get as good. That sketch has the proportions quite right it seems.

Your sketches are pretty good, but that cat is magnificent!

What is that, and how does it work? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

(The thing that looks like an implement for whaling. The chainsaw I’m (unfortunately) well familiarized with.)

Remember Mel Gibson?

“FREEDOOOOOOOM!”

It’s that thing.

It’s called a Woodchuck…or maybe a timber lever by another name. It is basically a lever that grabs large logs and allows you to roll them up into the air to give some clearance for the chainsaw blade and also prevent pinching the chain. Generally I only use it on longer segments. Works really well…!

Neat! I had no idea there was a specific tool for that, but makes sense. I’ve always used (and seen used around here) various poles, 2x4’s, or whatever else was at hand, but am not a professional lumberjack. Thanks!

Yeah…basically you are just rolling and levering the tree up onto the metal kickstand…and you have a piece of wood nearby that you can kick under the tree to keep it in the air…

We’d call it a felling lever over here. I use a logging claw, but have one of these on my wish list for bigger logs.

The question then is, how much wood, would a Felling lever, lever, if a Felling lever could lever wood. Doesn’t have the same ring to it…

Spent the weekend stump burning. Cut a 55gal barrel into halves and have two fires going. Three days now, so I’ve been clearing a bunch of dead fall and burning it. Two birds, one stone!! Your land looks like mine. But it is, just over the mountains.

Peavy used for rolling, moving logs

Cant Hook used for moving cants ( logs which have been faced on two sides )

That Jack attachment looks great never seen that before.

Also doubles as a pole arm, it reminds me a bit of a man catcher.

A term not to be used around London… they use the police to move the cants there. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Cants or wonts?

London is rammed full of cants

I’m so old school I still have to have my plan for the day written down instead of printed. It helps me digest the big picture…
