I ment to post this on Saturday …
Something like 35 hours in 4 days of flying…crazy.
View of KEGE 4 minutes after takeoff. I’ve been flying the Excel for four years, and it still surprises me how well it comes out of that airport, compared to the CJ/CJ3 where you roll forever and wave to the birds roosting in the trees as you go by the mountain!
You are making me feel guilty about taking a paycheck! That’s a lot of flying… ![]()
Thanks Chris. That second one is frameable for sure. Heck, both of them are.
Coming along nicely!
Why is the construction timber pink? Is it some sort of treatment?
Yep it’s the local way to show interior grade framing timber treatment level - basically only treated to withstand air moisture and not intended to be exposed for extended periods of time.
Edit: I’m not actually sure how the dye works - I assume the treatment is dyed pink. In comparison, exterior and ground treated timbers are not dyed but you can see the green hue of the treatment.
Really they’re just pumping the timber full of horrible stuff that allows radiata pine to be used for purposes it’s not really fit for, such as underground posts…but meh, it is what it is.
I use untreated hardwoods in the garden where I can but most of them still rot in 5-10 years, which isn’t that long.
Strákur, my current ride. I like to say that his name means “Death Stalker” in old Norse…but it really means little boy in modern Icelandic. We got up to 25,55 KPH today…that may not sound fast…but when you are on the back of a galloping quadruped…with no seatbelts…it’s pretty darn fast.
Ahaha how metal! ![]()
After more than a quarter century of faithful service my Advance digital alarm clock has finally fallen victim to the ravages if time.
The electronics are still working but the minutes button on top has stopped working. It has been giving me problems for several years but the power outage last night shut the clock off and now I can not reset the time.
It has been so long since I got it that I can not remember if I purchased it or if it was a freebie for subscribing to a magazine? Leaning towards the freebie though.
Wheels
If it’s a metal-contact button there could be ways to revitalize it!
Of course it’d take time…

Its been high 70s here that last few days. Decided to take the boat out and do some fishing this morning. Caught my very first large mouth Bass. I normally catch crappie and smaller white bass, so this was a thrill.
Spent most of Sunday at the site of Operation Harling
We also found a Chaffee! it was a hit with the kids.
Sitting in the lumber yard twiddling my thumbs waiting for my trailer to get loaded … this is our spur line …
Friday night. Busy week.
Took the wife to Crufts dog show yesterday. Obi moaned relentlessly but cheered up when he realised the booths had stickers, rosettes and sweets.
Not a bad day out, i was a bit zombiefied but thats normal these days
Also squeezed in my PPL license revalidation. So had a little fly around before work after collecting a glider in the morning. Hopefully can start doing a little more flying again as work is a bit more regular now and im not on the total verge of bankruptcy
