In Phoenix this week. Once again, had some time after work to go explore.
Its fire season already in the South-West, so the area is full of air attack fire tankers.
At Falcon Field, I caught this Billings CH-47.
And at Mesa-Gateway, had many fixed wing types.

That machine is one of my oldest memories. I think back then it was a cl-135? Dunno. I was three. We were camped out on a lakeside in the south of France. Fireseason. Suddenly this great big beautiful red and yellow plane descended, skimmed the lake and ponderously hauled a bellyful of water op over the mountains. There were two of them, taking turns. In my memory it must have been hours of them coming back and hauling water off over the mountains.
The canadair water bomber has a special place in my heart.

Went to the Yokota Friendship Festival today. Weather was trash but got close to some statics. Not much in terms of flying demos since Tokyo is so densely populated.
The F-35 squadrons that replaced the F-4EJ and RF-4Es.
Good old F-15J and F-2A.
44th FS from Okinawa arrived with Desert Storm kill marks. Crazy to think the same airframe is still in front-line service.
T-4s from Hamamatsu, including Blue Impulse.

The OH-1 is retiring soon, so we got an up-close look at it. I couldn’t get a wide-angle shot because of the crowding.
