I had a visitor at work today
That’s actually accurate. I vastly prefer widebody jets to work on. Much less head bumpy.
Yeah, they left that one out in the weather but moved the Apaches into the hangar. The Blackhawk did an engine run, prior to departing, but no deicing. I thought the same thing though.
Cat content = best content.
Just to get a feeling for the scale, what is a normal rate?
A lot depends on the breed. Our sheep are Speckle’s. As we’re a hill farm, it’s a relatively harsh environment and won’t get as high numbers as lowland sheep.
It also depends on how the autumn grass is.
Comparing percentages for other similar farms we’re down slightly.
Small edit:
Typical percentage is 120-140%.
We’re also noobs to this. It’s our second year.
It appears that keets is quite the Renaissance man - information technologist, avid cyclist, home brewer, and sheep baron! We are indeed in good company.
Interesting looking Bingo card…
Designed and printed a self watering planter that fits into a normal glass jar. Test run with some basilicum that wasn’t too happy. So far the theory is sound so hopefully the conditions are better for the plant.
That little dude looks like he’s getting too much water, not too little. Basilicum needs to be fairly dry iirc. Also lots of light.
It doesn’t like wet feet all the time but it’s still quite thirsty.
Recent storms caused a tree, that I knew had to cut, to split and fall. Luckily it missed my driveway gate.
Spent yesterday, cutting the intruding bits up and bringing it all to ground level. Here’s the first run with my “helpers”.
From what I’ve read on different websites is that it is quite thirsty and likes a constant moisture level, which these provide. The roots also don’t go down to water level but the water gets wicked upwards to keep the earth at a roughly constant moisture level.
Anyway, bit of an experiment. Perhaps you are correct!
Just got a filling fixed. Whole right side of my face is still numb. Made me think of Dudley Moore in the movie 10. I intend to stay away from any hills.

First real winter weather so far this year (or last year!). Guess I’ve been lucky, everywhere I’ve been so far there’s been no snow coming down and clean runways, this was the first one we had to worry about possibly needing de-icing (yuck!).
(For the record, just before we arrived the temp went up to +1C, and stayed there for our quick-turn, so all we got was wet, no ground icing. Thank God! Type 1 de-ice fluid is ~$25/gallon, last time I did it they sprayed about $1500 worth.)
So apparently some of the Carolinas is supposed to be walloped by a snowstorm/icestorm this weekend. The models seem to be leaning that way. We haven’t had much in the way of snow for years down in the Charlotte area…so it is fun to watch the preparations. The grocery store is insane right now. All the normal items…milk and bread… Me? Red wine and margarita mix…I mean…we ARE talking essentials right??
I did take some time to head over to the in-laws house to split some more wood. Always therapeutic swinging the maul…
My car is in the shop right now…so my wife’s Ford Escape got turned into a wood hauler…hopefully not too many spiders attack her next week…
Laid up a good bit of it under the covered porch so I don’t have to tromp around through the snow to get it. We have a nice Lopi Freedom woodstove insert in our fireplace…it heats our whole house. We rarely have to turn our electric heat on.
The little town of Kings Mountain where I live was practically power washing the roads with pre-treatment brine solution. Poor buggers in the other lane coming the other way got a nice salt bath corrosion wash - KM has probably been saving up years of brine…so they are excited to use it!
Since we live way out in the woods…I figured I’d better drag the generator out. There is a chance we are ice/snow mix…and it would not be unusual for us to lose power. Our 7500 tri-fuel generator runs off our massive residential propane tank…so it is good to go. I made sure the battery was charged and ran it for 10 minutes to make sure all was good. I wish I had an outdoor vented enclosure to run it in…I’ve thought about buying a doghouse for it to live in…
And I went to the store and bought some of Clark Griswold’s super secret polymer to wipe down the kids sleds with. If it doesn’t snow. We will all be disappointed.
You should really swap the CGA for a VGA…
