Was about to say that looks like a blast furnace.
We have plenty of them around here, active ones as well as old ones turned into tourist attractions

Came across this one at the photo exhibition “The Fragile Paradise” in the Gasometer Oberhausen
@sgtoinkz tipped me off to the Kisarazu air show last weekend. V-22s are loud in a hover. I had scuffs on my filter and I didn’t realize my ISO was 1600, but it’s not like I have the proper focal length for this stuff anyway lol.
I have been a bit busy lately…
This is the latest (yesterday), the third time this year I have been down to this area and a long day. Left home at 0700 got back just before mignight.
View from the office?
Yep! Corner cubicle.
You can hear the valkyries sing in that pic.
That’s Incredible!!! All of a sudden…I feel very small
Soul crusher!
That could be scary!
Windy???
can be but it is safer than it looks. For example in that first photo I would not have been standing where I was if I didn’t have burnt ground about 10ft behind me to retreat to.
In that second shot, the chopper is hovering - look at the water. I reckon only about half the bucket load actually hit the ground!
Those pilots are incredible the way that they can manouvre like they do in conditions like that with a bloody great pendulum swinging around beneath them.
Panoramic taken from the top of the 118m tall Gasometer Oberhausen. Click the image to zoom in on flickr to see the details. It’s a 245 Megapixel panoramic.
First day in the new job. Qualified as an F4 instructor then taught two students. First was under supervision. The second I was solo.
Then a session training on the B737-800. These were at the old Kai Tac.
That’s bloody awesome Scoop!
I see! Thanks for the info.
So they will be integrating the sims into X-Plane… Will be interesting to see what you think of that transition.
If they went for dcs they would have ended up paying for three commercial software licences. This way they just need 2.
