Yeah, yesterday…
Looks like we’re getting some of that white fluffy stuff today.
A bit more boatspotting…
This is Stella Oceana, another charter.
And @WarPig, this boat was making noise, in the sound…!
From Columbia?
No…
She crashed during reentry.
Company I worked for at the time built the seat belt reels used to hold them in their seats. Somewhere on a floppy disk I have a picture of one of the units they found after the accident. It was in remarkably good condition considering it was made out of aluminum/aluminium.
Wheels
Like I said, from Columbia.
After 3 years of construction the first (eastward) section of the new A40 bridge opened on Monday for car traffic, dismantling of the old bridge (the yellow one you can see behind) started immediately, they are currently removing the tarmac. Cyclists and pedestrians still have to content with the old bridge until the cycling path has been checked by authorities and deemed safe for public use (should happen within the next few weeks).
Traffic is currently routed on 6 lanes (3 each way) over the new bridge and a major choke point for trucks is no more - since 2016 after severe damage was discovered on the old bridge - large scales to weigh truck traffic were installed on the Autobahn and trucks were limited to 20t, if a truck was heavier than that, a traffic light would turn red and the truck had to leave the Autobahn on the last exit before the bridge. The scales were removed over the course of the last week and the last parts of the road surface were finished to route traffic over the new bridge which will remain 14.5m south of it’s final position until the westwards section of the bridge is finished which is planned for 2026/27. The whole span of the bridge will be lifted up and pushed 14.5m north. The A40 bridge will then be an 8 lane bridge with a 4m wide cycling parth on the westward (northern) section of the bridge and a 2.7m wide cycling path on the eastward (southern) section.
The wind blew over a privacy fence. They didn’t want a prefab kit. So we went all out on the organic flow building here’s the result:
The thing with the roofing tiles is me trying to fence in a hump in the soil that I didn’t want to touch the wood, because most wood will rot like a motherlover if it’s in direct contact with soil. Not the acacia robinia that anchors the red roofing tiles. That thing should outlast the people who hired me to do this job.
It could have been wilder but they declined the more fun things (I would have loved to cut out some cloud shapes in it)
I read this with the voice of the character Jerry in Die Hard 3
A bit of an Australian icon. Lots about, but usually I never have a camera handy when they are.
Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae)
Unfortunately I didn’t catch the moment he surfaced with a fish after one of his dives due to a camera error. I was really miffed about that… Never had that happen before and it hasn’t happened since (fingers crossed).
Look at the size of that beak! Feel like he’s about to tip over
