I really like flying the JF/AH C-46 in FSX and P3D with Air Hauler. Really fun to fly, especially with the choice between original and modernised cockpits.

I imported it to FS2020

but don’t do that any more - hopefully they will do one for the sim.

I went on a pilgrimage of sorts.

I am insanely jealous. I want to see a Tomcat in the flesh more than anything in the world.

No hyperbole, if i had the cash to get on a plane right now, fly to the US. Look at a tomcat and immediately fly home I wouldnt even hesitate

Looks amazing @Clutch. What an awesome pilgrimage!

I know how you feel….I saw one over 20 yrs ago at The Chicago Air And Water Show where I live…I couldn’t get over how Huge of a Wing Span it had,And also The incredible Power!!!
When they lit up The Cans over Lake Michigan The noise and energy hit you so hard you could feel it in your chest.
That was the first and only time I ever saw one…I believe it was a VF-101 Grim Reaper F-14D in LowVis Paint Scheme

Thanks - it’s been a pain cos you’re not supposed to repair Z rated radials, just replace them. Michelin say that their tyres are okay to repair but I couldn’t get anyone who would do that (including Triumph). Luckily this mobile repair guy says he will - which also saves me having to ride it or take the wheel to a workshop.

£35 for a repair. There’s no way I’m chucking a tyre from a bike that’s only 5 months old just cos it has a screw in it.

Yeah you can these days, long as there is only one and the repair is a vulcanised, pull through 6mm patch.

The ones i fit are rated to 186mph. Ive never had one fail and ive literally fitted thousands over the years.

Most places aren’t actually sure of the repair techniques so they just stick to the old rules and bin the tyre

That’s good to know. I’ve plugged pretty much every pair I’ve ever had myself (Michelin PR4’s for the last 10 years) with a normal plug without demounting the tire.

Seems like every single time I get a new pair of tires, one picks up a nail within the first week. :joy:

And places around here won’t plug or patch any M/C tire. They look at you like you’re crazy.

It’s not whether you can - it’s whether you are supposed to according to government advice, which is not to do so - which is why many places won’t entertain the idea. Not only so that they won’t be held accountable if there’s an issue resulting in damage of any kind, but also there’s the question of whether insurance would pay out on such an event if it were discovered that government advice was not adhered to.
The guy who plugged my tyre today explained exactly why that is in place and why Michelin tyres can be done without any concern.

Despite being passed in 2009, it hasn’t been superceded and so still stands

Should have seen the size of the poxy screw that caused this - about 6mm! Anyway I’m sorted now for minimum outlay, so will be back on the road again.

That british standard is not law. Its only a guideline. Bridgestone tyres can also be repaired more than once, as can metzeler. I personally won’t do it.
Providing you have taken advice from a qualified professional, you cannot be held accountable for it by law or have your insurance invalidated provided the repair is carried out to the standards i mentioned above.

Some tourism stuff in Singapore, as I have my family across for a bit. A place with a lot of contrasts of old and new.

Current plan is back to Canada by April, as long as the otters don’t cause any trouble.

And don’t make eye contact with those monkeys, whatever you do!

It’d be so tempting to add a “What to do when you encounter crocodile scorpions”

Do not be alarmed
Do not place banana for scale
Do not run
Do not make noise
Do not breathe
