Where Are You Photos [2023]

First time ice skating for this winter. Ice seems nice on this small track I just found.

There is also a halo, rainbow colours around the sun on the left.

Edit: video review (actual speed :innocent:)

Very exceptional view of the aurora this far south. Taken from the ‘High ■■■■’ next to RAF Cranwell this evening

(The obscured word begins with D and means a raised earthen bank. The auto censor assumes incorrectly it refers to a lady of a certain persuasion)

Unreal layers of earth, clouds and space. Dreamlike photo. Incredible!

Damn it, not much point then in me posting the essay on flood mitigation in the Netherlands I was going to :stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously, that is an awesome photo - I love the colours. Aurora Australis is sometimes visible from as far north as coastal Victoria. Haven’t seen it myself but a friend with a house at Phillip Island has - and for my motorcycling friends, yes ‘that’ Phillip Island

A couple of visitors this past couple of weeks. Sadly, the expected ones (USCG C-27J and Tyndall T-38s) no-showed. But those are the breaks.

It amazes me that 707’s are still flying.

In 1993 I flew from RAAF Townsville to Hickam AFB in a 707 that was 25 years old (the same age as me).

Same. It amazes me that there aren’t better platforms to use, to the extent that the US .mil is repurposing wore-out cargo liners. Do I understand that correctly?

For our next installment, I wonder what this…

Canopy shape made me immediately think Su-57

Su-57

But that aint it… Looking at the other ‘lumps and bumps’ same or similar IFF & other antennae as the Super Hornet.

The canopy doesn’t seem right, but that’s my best guess?

A nasty storm rolled through Texas yesterday.
Across our street is the community center/pool, gym. A large part of the roof flew off. I got video of it (file size is too big to upload here). No one was hurt.

Had to go to Lincoln today, to have some warranty repairs done on the bike. As I passed RAF Waddington I spotted something unusual there, so stopped to take a quick photo - damn typical - out of focus!
