Where Are You Photos [2024]

Yes checking my six is a rather wobbly experience and I prefer to avoid.

Got myself new cycling shoes

I mean, yeah kinda, still necessary in a lot of situations  I am flexible enough it’s just much easier and quicker to glance down to check the mirror before merging with traffic etc.

Hope it leads you down a better road than my “RH EEC MANUAL” CAS message this weekend. Packed for 3 days, going on day 8.

I hope they get it fixed soon. You must be starting to feel like NASA Astronaut flying a Boeing Starliner.:rofl:

I was lucky in that Austin Bergstrom is just down the road from our home base, so I’m sat at home now. The airplane will hopefully be fixed later today.

I had that thought this morning. Luckily I bring plenty of quarters with me.
Luckily we were able to MEL (Minimum Equipment for Limping) it to complete the trip, then on to the service center instead of home. Supposed to be fixed tomorrow, then on to the next 4-day trip, and extending us like this means decent $ for the extra days so all good. :+1:

Well at least you get something to sweeten the deal. :+1:

Oh boy, wiring harness FUBAR?

Why did you divert for an anti-skid message? I take it the runway was not long enough for the potential degraded performance or was it more of a case emergency services that are available?

No, wiring all rang out good. Turns out the EEC itself had gone bad, after speculation that it was a BOV Torque motor and/or LVDT. Some bad rabbit trails taken, but not pointing fingers, and we’re on the right track for RTS tomorrow.

On ours, anti-skid inop checklist adds a sizable factor to our landing distance required, which makes a shorter runway impossible. Plus it’s good ADM to have some runway and services in your back pocket if needed.

Ah yeah, the EEC is hard to checkout so you kinda have to start with circumferential troubleshooting

Sounds like a sensible SOP for the anti-skid out. Not sure what my airlines SOP is but you can do most of the deceleration on thrust reverse in that case though brakes have the preference.

On the Challenger you have to increase your landing distance requirements by 65%. If we used actual landing distance to calculate that then we would probably have been ok…but Austin Bergstrom has 9 and 12 thousand foot runways, and on airport fire coverage. We didn’t declare an emergency, but it seemed sensible to divert.

That is quite extreme! What turned out to be the issue?

We swapped out the Anti-Skid controller today and that seems to have resolved the problem. :sunglasses:

Ah, the LRU swap, the most boring kind of problem! Was hoping it would have been something fun for the mechanics like the shuttle valve’s but hey, swapping out out a box in the MEC is probably cheaper for the company!

Some more pictures from the last weeks, finally getting around to edit the pictures now.
Again, the jumping spider. Sorry for those of you who can’t stand spiders, I just love these little guys. I should probably make a video so you understand. Their behaviour is absolutely adorable, very curious little creatures, you could probably keep them as pets very easily.

Its absolutely torrential here, my wife is busy and I’m bored

Was going to change the gearbox and transfer box oil on the hummer but its in 3 inches of water on a gravel driveway so sod that.

Bimbled around bored and finally found the battery for my RC tank that my boy helpfully lost for me while i was looking for a light bulb.

So i fixed the 360 degree slewing issue i was having and fixed the smoke generator. Also fitted the new sound board which is awesome.

I have a smoke screen generator to fit as well but the battery ran out and i couldn’t be bothered to take the turret apart to slew it round manually so thats another rainy day project.

Forgot how fun it is terrifying the cocker spaniel as well.
