Moms skipped working on it Wednesday and Thursday. It was 112F/45C in the sunroom.
She got out to the sunroom earlier on Friday September 06, 2024 before it got unbearable and this is what she got finished.

Basically yes. Had to change 4 tyres on a fully freighted scania XT low loader which was around 60 ton. Couldn’t jack it up so had to drop the trailer and pull the lorry forward a few feet, essentially straight into a huge muddy puddle, but it was the only safe-ish way to do it. At my own expense obviously
Ouch, 4 tyres and no jack… That is rough…
That Tomcat must be going REALLY fast with wings in their overswept position
Moms made some decent progress on her puzzle yesterday Saturday September 08, 2024.
I suspect she will skip today since by the time she gets home from church the temperature in the sunroom will be over 100F/38C.

The last kilometres on Dutch soil. I already miss the infrastructure and the two camping grounds we stayed at were amazing. You could feel the border. Smooth asphalt, fantastic cycling paths absolutely everywhere, you are a first class citizen as a cyclist. As soon as we crossed the border the cycling path became a pothole riddled farm road and I mean that literally…
Your mirror in your first shot makes the pic imo lol. Cool perspective
I’ve tried riding on gravel, as they are all around me. Don’t like it, give me a path anytime
Proper gravel needs fat tires and a lot of practice. It can be quite fun but I do prefer smooth roads as well. There’s something about just effortlessly cruising along at a decently quick pace that I love.
@schurem @Freak and the other dutchies here: I feel pure envy after cycling for two and half days in your country. Usually my travels only bring just across the border which is nice and all but spending a weekend on a bike just made me realise how bad things are in Germany and the infrastructure around where I live is really good by German standards.
You can’t park there mate…
To be honest about the border, you can feel it with all infrastructure, as soon as you cross into belgium or germany you can feel the degraded surface quality instantly, I think only Luxembourg has decent infrastructure when it comes to neighbouring countries.
Anyway, maybe time to move here so you can bike all the time?
I should probably just do all my weekend rides in Limburg, Venlo and the Maasduinen are only 40km away and as a plus, most of the roads on the left lower Rhine look like this:
Unfortunately you have to know where to find these roads because Google wants to send you along very busy roads with terrible cycling paths and apps like komoot or Strava don’t fare much better.
I would miss the hills along the river Ruhr though. Flat land all the time becomes boring and the hilly part of the Netherlands is too far away for a regular day trip
Yeah that is true, flat windy and wet.
Speaking of which, found a few hills today. Weather was nice for the most part, just a bit windy and cold compared to last week.
Got a bit wet and temperature dropped from 16°C to 8°C in a matter of minutes. My wet feet never got warm again for the last ~35km and I wish I had gone for regular lube instead of the dry lube which just washes off in even fairly light showers and it was pouring for a good ten minutes…
This one is giving her more fits than normal. The colors overlap quite a bit and the way the pieces were cut allow them to be assembled in the wrong location. This is forcing her to rearrange pieces when the surrounding pieces do not fit.
Now that the heat wave has subsided for the next few days I fully expect the puzzle to be finished before Monday or Tuesday of next week.
