After a much milder than usual Autumn/Fall, Winter has arrived…

That’s quite the sight to see as we have just dug our way out of a cold dark winter. Ya, I’m being a bit dramatic.
Harry, do you generally get much for snow accumulation, I imagine not. Wonderful view btw

A dusting like that a few times each winter. We got a solid 5-6 inches one day last year that took a couple of days to melt, but no accumulation. And definitely nothing like you Northern latitude types get.

There are trout… and platypus, eastern water dragons, rakali (endangered native water rat) and wide variety of frogs and bird life in and on the river just there in front of the house. We are close enough to the coast that cormorants and egrets are fairly common.

Really nice. One thing I enjoy living on an acreage are the sounds. The birds chirping in the day, the frogs in the evening. And the 'yotes at night (less enjoyable). Can not imagine what you would hear Harry

During the day it is mainly birds and insects.

At night it is quiet this time of year, but during the warmer months the frogs are loud enough to be a distraction and come breeding season we hear the occasional Koala (which really freaks people out because the males roar and it sounds just like big cat, as in lion or tiger), possums screeching at each other can be unnerving for those who don’t know what it is & foxes can make some pretty weird noises.

As it’s Aus, I’m guessing they breathe fire and 25m in length?

We had a vixen and her cubs playing in the field one night. It sounded like someone being tortured.

Badgers can make an awful scream sound which can get the heart rate up especially if you’re outside walking.

Awesome!! I’m very much looking forward to when the kids are old enough for festivals. Or old enough to stay with family for the wife and I to go again.

I have a 6 liter keg of this at my door when I come back from vacation. You essentially sold it to me.

The local model kit shop, Sjaak’s hobbyshop, is closing down after 32 years. They could not find a successor.

It’s been quite a few months since I’ve done any model building but I wanted to support the couple for running this great shop, the best in the country IMO, for such a long time.

The Mi-24P will of course be painted in a European livery, probably Ukrainian. I’m quite happy to have scored the Zvezda model of the Mi-24P though: it’s the only 1:72 Hind with the correct asymmetric fuselage shape.
The Trumpeter Su-33 is a very good model, and I’ve always liked the shape of the canard Flankers.

Do yourself and the shopkeeper’s pension a favor and score some kits or supplies at a discount!
