I am personally all for swearing I get why it does it like that here, as people can read stuff not signed in and we may have children or canadian’s reading but it’s all kinds of odd really. It’s just words afterall. There’s so much worst things in the world than words.
I did that more because it reminded me of a beer ad were of ‘We are ALL Canadian!’ and was wondering if you were going for something like that etc
We have a deposit scheme here. It is built into the purchase cost but we can drop off - for example soda cans and get 10cents per can back. You feed them into a ‘reverse vending machine’ type contraption and it then gives you money.
We get paid by the pound at that location. We get a few bucks less than using the reverse vending machine method but my time is worth more than I lose by getting paid by the pound. I typically take 8 to 10 thirty three gallon trash bags full of crushed plastic bottles so it would take way too long to put them into a machine one at a time.
In my picture you can see how many uncrushed plastic bottles the orange containers hold. Now imagine that many orange containers, about 5, with crushed plastic bottles and estimate how long it would take putting them into a machine one at a time.
We did a boys’ trip to Fjordland recently - did the Hollyford track, a 5-day traverse along a river valley out to sea in a fairly remote part of the South Island. It was stunning - a couple of pretty full on days in thick steep bush after heavy rain, where going around a single big fallen tree could take over half an hour(!), and lots of walking in shin deep water - but all in all a lovely hike, the weather was unusually good, and was glad to see everyone get through it without too much injury. Can’t wait our 2028 hike (we are trying to do one with this group every 2 years).
