Thanks Ted, so far so good here. There have been a lot of power outages in the Austin and Houston area (amongst other places). My wife and I have been lucky though up to this point. The internet went down for about 6 hours (oh the horror!). Right now the temperature has raised to 22ºF from a low of 8ºF overnight. It’s going to be another cold one tonight, but hopefully things will start to improve tomorrow. Austin Bergstrom Intl is closed by NOTAM until 2100L tomorrow, which shows they are really not geared up for this kind of weather.

Slowly but surely working my way through the winter pictures from last week. Unfortunately the winter weather is already gone. It’s now 10°C warmer than Sunday morning (-7°C) and tomorrow is going to be 13°C with rain.

This one was a pain to edit because of the file size of over 1GB. It’s a 272 Megapixel monster and my PC threw a hissy fit, literally choking on that file:

The roads were all fairly cleared except for my street (a side street) and similar ones in the neighborhood. About 6” of fresh snow down.
Fiesta was pretty happy to climb over the snow at the bottom of the driveway with no run up, but nearly beached immediately after as my dad had just ran the snowblower between the cars, tossing more onto the road. An open differential doesn’t help and the Traction Control isn’t smart enough, it tends to attack aggressively and cut all wheel rotation rather than just slip here. Torque Vectoring of some sort would help. So I have to sort of pump the gas timed with TCS adding brake to get the effect of a locked or limited slip differential. Being fresh, the snow is loose and doesn’t cake well on the winter tires. So a bit of spinning and she jumped forward and carried on down the street just fine. Had me worried for a moment I might need my “dig-out shovel” - a small telescopic handle, plastic blade snow shovel I keep in the trunk.
