Evening allā€¦am i correct in saying that this stick doesnt have a twist axis so id need to get rudder pedals?

Hello,As far as I can tell from this reviewā€¦No it doesnā€™t appear the stick has a twist axis

Not necessarily. I donā€™t have the F-16 HOTAS (yet), but I do have the winwing F-18 throttle & stick.
I donā€™t want rudder pedals, so when needed, I map the TDC on the throttle to the rudder z-axis.
Just to offer an alternative for ya.

There is an optional Z axis addon for the stick base. I forget if itā€™s for the Orion or Taurus base or both, but it might not be both.

Force sensing != Force feedback.

Youā€™re going to love it. Setting up the throttle bracket is a bit wonky but once everything is aligned it is easy peasy.

That force-sensing grip is tempting! Arrrrrgh!

I had to play that video actually in 0.25 of its original speed to understand it properly but thumbs up from me :+1:

  • force sensing tech with slight physical movement
  • symmetrical dual cam design
  • damping design to resemble helicopter cyclic

and all in single base, impressive

Yeah, that video was hard to follow concerning the ā€˜forceā€™ thing.

However, If it was the gizmo embedded in the grip, then thatā€™s already there; the combo in the video appears to be no different (other than the current one that you have to order separate cams and such right now).

And I will not be turning that ā€œonā€ based on research: it ā€˜sensesā€™ data from DCS (in my case) via a lua script (automatically installed  ) that ā€˜pollsā€™ the game. And it does this way too often, bringing down FPS. Thereā€™s a YT on this too, somewhere, Iā€™ll lookā€¦

This one doesnā€™t address the FPS issue, the next one doesā€¦

Here he shows a way around it - cus WW is doing this automatically. Noting that I donā€™t have mine yet there may be another way to shut this off, possibly in the supporting software by now.

I like the idea of it but from feedback Iā€™ve read the FPS drop may not be worth it. Also note that this is, IMO, a scaled-down version of my Seat-Shaker rig ā€“ if it is popular enough maybe ED will support this within the program and not have to use lua scripting; I would imagine this would help haptic feedback users across the board (minimize the latency).

PS: Based on the email I got a day or so ago, if you ordered the Orion 1 they will ship version 2. Email isnā€™t real clear, likely due to the translation, but thatā€™s how I read it.

Nice, thanks for the link. Assuming the email was correct they are sending this one instead of the Gen1 Orion base. If so, this is a step above my experience with the Virpil throttle.

Gen 1 base no longer on the site, so I would think that means they arenā€™t selling them now.

I ordered a gen 2 stick base too but without the MSFFB. One, they didnā€™t have those in stock yet, and two I donā€™t care about force sensing and while the hold in place thing is nice (my old Logi G940 FFB did it) itā€™s not worth going from $215 to $380 or whatever for it.

As I already had both Viper and Hornet grips, I will put the Hornet one on the gen 1 base permanently and have the Viper on the new one.

I thought about and finally dismissed getting the orion 2 throttle base. One, space! Two, not enough of a jump over 1. Three, not all metal.
