WRC - EA Sports (2023)

@Aginor Were you trying to run those stages in quick play? Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be implemented. I read on reddit, you need to create a rally and preset those conditions and run the rally, even one stage. Seems baffling not to have that feature in quick play. I haven’t firsthand tried that myself, but I intend to try later.

Seems like a lot of games releasing lately are “meh, we’ll just release it to stay on schedule and fix it, maybe, later.” Forza Motorsport, Starfield to an extent, Cities Skylines 2, WRC and who knows what else.

Yeah I just picked time trial (or whatever it is called in English, in German it is “Zeitfahren”) from the main menu.

It let’s me pick a car/livery, location, a stage, and wet/dry.

Well, I’m glad someone else said it… I thought maybe I’m just becoming an old grumpy man, and gaming is just dying on me. But even with the new releases like this and FM, they just don’t bring the same feeling of play as yester-year. lol. They are still good games, some great, but I miss the old games much more then wanting the new ones.

Really hope they can fix this stutter issue, and framerate issues, even on console. They can become unplayable at times, like in heavy woods or a big jump. (And remember the console that everyone hates is supposed to be a set standard, they should know by release if it will be smooth enough, maybe not on PC, but console, it’s a set benchmark.)

3 month of rally.tv for just playing the game

EDIT:
I joined the official WRC club and ran 3 stages of the event before I binned it by going over the cliff.
You only need to run one stage, then go to Race.net and claim your code. Don’t sleep on it. I think only 6 or 7,000 entries will get access.

I signed up to rally.tv and they have loads of content, including past seasons. They also have World Rallycross apparently. That’s epic.

IMO the night stages look a little darker than they should. If you’ve ever been in the dark away from city lights you know what I mean.

Having played this for a few days now, i can say.

I like it. It plays well with a controller.

This feels like the successor to Dirt 4.

I like the build a car part. Simple but effective.

Short vs medium rally lengths are weird. Short is 2 stages and medium is 5.

For me 5 is too much but 2 isnt enough.

Its a good simcade title.

Was a no brainer. Just in time for Rally Japan that starts in 11 days.

First big patch, 1.3, due tomorrow 8 November at 1100 UTC. (No VR support yet, just performance and bug fixes.)

Key Fixes

  • Added support for Unreal PSO Caching (shader pre-compiling) to address and reduce the amount of shader stuttering experienced on PC.

  • Made several improvements to framerate in key areas of gameplay on all platforms.

  • Made a number of graphical fixes and improvements across the game on all platforms.

  • Resolved multiple issues that would cause the game to crash or soft lock during gameplay on all platforms.

  • EA SPORTS™ WRC can now be launched on Steam Deck.

That’s great that they are adding UDP, so those of us using Fanatec gear can have Fanalab push the wheel/pedal configs automatically when the sim starts.

New Feature

  • Added support for User Datagram Protocol (UDP) on PC. Please visit this link for further information and documentation.

The biggest deficiency I’ve seen so far is the massive hitch when I would hit a puddle in the track. Glad they’ve got the PSO caching going, hope that fixes it.

I finally got around to playing a few hours.

The patch helped my performance. It could be a tad better but it is OK. No crashes so far.

Feels nice to drive. I started a career to get up to speed. Hope I get more time to play soon.

1.3 patch is due out tomorrow. Quite a few fixes, of which this may positively impact our next event.

“Fixed an issue where brightness in interior views was either over or underexposed in certain conditions at Sweden.”

I found that in some instances, the snow is so bright that it’s difficult to see the road. Turning down the brightness in the game helped. Perhaps the real life drivers have this issue as well. I wish that WRC had a sunglasses or tinted shield mode, like the one in the DCS Strike Eagle.

After a week on the recent patch, still seeing same fps fluctuations and microstutters at random times. Also getting artifacts at certain rally locations like Mexico.
The transitional lighting issue is still there. Seems to be worse during the day. When I run a rally in the morning or evening, the game looks gorgeous.

I will say with every patch EA pushes graphic get worse. I had no issue in the 3 days pre release. But since its been something different every time.

Thinking of sticking to the PS5 version I have.

Check this out. I haven’t had time to test it.

This game is great! Even with a gamepad and using auto-shift. Probably still be last, though…

I’m only on level 9 of the first season of cosmetics. :o Luckily I got those for free, for pre-ordering. I would have to play a LOT more to get through that whole thing.

I have so many game/battle passes going on right now. So many games, so little time for each one.

Looking forward to Central European rally.
