Truth spoken!
@Troll has no idea what he’s getting into.
He rarely do…
I thought I would try EA WRC as Sim Racing Studio now have telemetry for it in their software that drives my buttkicker. It took a while to set up and when I got into the seat and tried to drive the wheel went ballistic. Some sort of conflict that I couldn’t resolve. I was getting close to the 2 hour Steam refund window so gave up. I think I’ll give it another try when they provide VR support.
You know Buttkicker recently updated their Hapticonnect software for WRC? no need to run a 3rd party program. Nice tactile feedback and free massage.
I race with a wheel and drive cautiously. Perhaps too cautiously. When I view the replay I appear to being driving in slow motion, and at times appear slightly intoxicated, which can be accurate
Yes, I am aware. That wasn’t the issue however.
Steam has EA Sports WRC 40% off at the moment. I think that is a good deal and am prepared to take a punt on it again.
January rallies when?
I meant to get it going this last weekend, but got sidetracked. So this weekend it is! Standby for details. I am thinking we can start off with the recently added Central Europe Rally (Czech Republic).
I downloaded the VR update and now the game simply closes down even before the launching process barely begins. Anyone been able to try it in VR?
Just spent about 30 minutes trying to get it going in VR, but similar boat as you. I can launch and get about as far as the service area menu. When I click START to enter the car, it will CTD. Apparently the HP G2 isn’t a “supported” HMD according to their Beta FAQ.
I’ve turned down the graphic settings, ran file integrity check, I have the latest drivers, etc. Tried various rally locations and cars. Nothing but CTD. Disappointing. Oh well, I’m happy with my go-to ultrawide monitor. Back to it.
Aight, I gave it one last go and dug around the Steam VR settings menu. Under the OpenXR tab, there is an option for
Meta Plugin Compatibility. It was OFF . So I just said YOLO and selected AUTOMATIC.
Voilà! That fixed my CTD issues on my HP G2. Don’t ask me how, as all that VR tech mumbo jumbo jargon is Greek to me. But it works.
(All this VR beta, menu tweaking reminds me of the early VR days in DCS. The constant file tweaking, downloading 3rd party apps, ugh.)
I used the Open XR Toolkit Companion to disable it for WRC to solve the CTD. Was only a couple of clicks. Although the interface is really kludgy, I though that it worked pretty well once you got going.
Thanks for that guys. I am glad you got it going. I might wait for a while and try again.
After almost 12 years with my Logi G27 I finally upgraded to a Fanatec CSL DD w/CS RS wheel and pedals.
Wow…it feels so nice and smooth now. And so quiet!
Still getting used to the larger diameter wheel, though.
I also have a CSL DD and very happy with it. Quiet, powerful enough, easy to mount.
