??? Where?
The only very light jet I noticed in the default list is the Cirrus Vision SF50
I was watching frooglesim flying it in XP-11, sure as hell looked different from the XP-10 version. Can’t find the video on his channel so I think he did it as a promotional thing. I think it was posted in this very same thread.
Huh. Very strange. I’ll have more time to try it tonight I guess, so we’ll see what I can achieve then.
By the way: the map isn’t working for me since I upgraded to the full version, it just stays blank.
That’s all cool stuff. I love Austin’s Vegan Food Truck…LOL…
Sooooo…
I had the opportunity to try a few things today.
- got my old backup joystick (MS Sidewinder Precision Pro) to work. It sucks but better than nothing. At least it was recognized by the game
- Flew the ASK-21
- made short hops around my home town in the C-172 and the 737
- Took off from EDNY to take a look at Lake Konstanz, the biggest lake in Germany
Remarks:
- I have really bad frame rates. Those are not graphics related though. I can run ~15fps with the highest and lowest setting
- C-172 has much worse FPS than 737 for some reason
- ground looks good, the towns I know are easily recognizable. But they lack features. For example Karlsruhe has a Palace and park right in the middle. In XP11 there is only forest
Karlsruhe Palace - Wikipedia - XP11 seems to default to forest whenever it doesn’t know what’s up. Some land classes are plain wrong it seems, and replaced by forests.
- Lake Constance is missing. The whole huge lake is not there at all! Really strange. Only very small parts in the NW are there.
Lake Constance - Wikipedia - I didn’t find the time warp. Is there any?
I only checked out Raleigh, well, ok only a limited amount off the runway before heading into the clouds, but the I-540/US 70 was nicely there not far from the end of the runway
Streets are pretty good, all major ones I looked for were there and recognizable.
Yay got it to work!
steps:
- install new driver, mine was still from stone age (if it ain’t broken don’t fix it)
- deactivate all screens so that damn Nvidia control panel shows all options instead of just two
- deactivate “Thread Optimization” like @fearlessfrog said
- start X-plane, have fun
Remarks:
- Those clouds and exhaust effects are a shame. FSX level.
- I can actually turn the settings pretty high with my PC. Some tweaking still needed but I can run the sim fine with most on max.
- Cirrus cockpit FMS is not clickable, doesn’t really work it seems. Well, BETA.
- TrackIR works now, but really not that good, going to try that plugin
- going to test some stuff before I really fly somewhere. Might not make the Christmas tour to the south.
Glad you got it working better Aginor.
So, I’m doing a little testing myself right now to figure out which airplane to take South. I took the MD82 up with max fuel, taking note of fuel at takeoff, top of climb (FL340) and then to calculate burn at cruise (at M.76). I was shocked to note that it was only burning 2160 Lbs per hour at cruise. It didn’t seem right, so I calculated it again, same figure. Then I noticed on the fuel panel that the figures are in KG’s! Do’h! I just took it for granted that the MD82 would work in Lbs. Oh well. 4762 pounds per hour seems more plausable .
I wonder whether I should register for the x-plane forums. Just to report some bugs and help the guys.
Things like
- Lake Constance missing, hints at something horribly wrong in either the land classes or the terrain data itself
- G940 stick not recognized at all
- buttons in Cirrus clickable but do nothing
And wishes like:
- let us change aircraft reg. numbers please
- create some default textures for winter
- improve clouds
- add placeholders for special buildings at least. So standard castles, radio towers, power plants and so on to improve VFR. For example in Germany the nuclear power plants are huge and white. Perfect landmarks.
You should, and I think some of those have been reported.
I read that rather than do four times the tile textures they wanted to do something ambitious with shaders, as in dynamically create seasons rather than fixed graphics. Not sure where they are with that though.
That would be super awesome!
That sounds like a great idea!
If anyone is interested, I finally got around to installing the EADT x737 v5.0.3 and the x737FMC v3.22 and both seem to work fine. I flew around a bit in the FLUFF and could enter data as normal in the FMC, but didn’t have time to take a trip. Would be nice to see a comparison between the default 738 and the x737, including x737FMC.
X-Plane 11 beta 2 is out and downloadable. Lots of bug fixes detailed down from here:
“-Fixed sparkling VOR gauges in C172”
Good. Will install tonight or tomorrow and take a look.
The update seemed to go fine last night, albeit I had to recalibrate and setup all of my controllers again. At least you can save the “Default” setting for each controller. I’m a little confused, because I thought that you were going to be able to save a config for each a/c. Anyway, an equal challenge is not being able to set a dead zone for your axis. I’ve got a toe brake axis that doesn’t want to return completely to zero. Unless I missed that somewhere.
Having said that, I really like the direction that they are going.
