I had to Google him… started a business with his brother at the age of 15, and by the time they graduated high school he had TWO HUNDRED employees. And his airplane “Turbulence” probably out performs the Pocket Rocket by quite a margin. I feel so mediocre.
Mmmmm… Interesting!
Hmm!
This seems to be related to a chain of events which came to a head on the 14th of November, almost 526 years ago.
Nah, Snark always flies in that area. It is his virtual home.
I guess it should be obvious that the numbers in the XplaneToStellarium window match the lat/lon from X-Plane.
I will just leave this link here:
@TheAlmightySnark, this looks like a very interesting project indeed. I feel like @Sine_Nomine could potentially be interested.
Casper (@TheAlmightySnark) and I are working on a project together. He has done the hard part by writing this app. The idea is to make Celestial Navigation possible for X-Plane, using Stellarium, an Almanac and a means to plot, such as Google Earth or another 3rd party app.
The 2019 Christmas trek is going to be quite interesting I think, assuming there will be some large bodies of water to cross.
Plots can be very accurate if you use the precise star Altitude angles that Stellarium can give you, or you can measure the angle yourself with the measuring tool. That will add a higher degree of error and of course be more realistic.
An example from an iPad app called EZAlmanac, using precise data taken from multiple sightings taken in Stellarium, which was paused. Stellarium’s Position was set to Hamilton, Bermuda.
Realistically we won’t be getting as accurate results while flying as it is impossible to take all those sightings at the same instant.
So, no surprise, I bought a little something in the 4th July sale at the Org…
I took her for a quick flight around the Quatam River scenery. For some reason, I never stumbled across the old rescue plane that looks abandoned and in rough shape. I won’t mention the exact location on the off chance someone here hasn’t seen this yet… oh, and it looks like I’m not taking good care of my new airplane too well… shame on me!
Seeing as we have already been talking here about Casper’s (@TheAlmightySnark) app, a few shots from my first test flight using it. RAF Waddington to Gander in the Vulcan.
Route flown (Yellow) vs Route planned (Red). That final fix told me I had drifted North of track but I was able to make a correction that worked out well.
Very neat to see it working Paul! Soon enough you’ll be an expert in old navigation methods
That’s fantastic! This will be really helpful for the course I’m just starting. Thanks guys!
That’s a keeper !
Really loving the updated Q400 by FlyJSims. Not the upcoming new release…just an update to sort of a final version of the original Q400 for X-Plane 11. Looks great with an improved EICAS screen and redone texturing or PBR or whatever on the externals.
I just went over to the Torquesim website, and thought you might get a kick out of the “in development” page…
Dude, wrong thread. Put your real cockpit photos in the Where Ypiu Are In Photos (2019) thread! …and that first shot…should you really be talking selfies during climb out?
I’ve never flown the prop rocket…
The Q4 is quite a different beast compared to the 1/2/300.
So, it looks long enough, is about the extent of my knowledge about it’s virtual properties.
I didn’t realize that the Q400 was that different from the earlier Dash 8’s .
It’s a common typerating, but a difference course of a couple of days of theory and two simulator sessions.
