This looks simply stunning… OrbX are rocking and rolling with their TrueEarth scenery… I’m not seeing a price tag yet, but I guess it is getting very close to release.
Downloading now!
Not specifically central to the subject of this thread, more of a tangent that I have been thinking about recently…
Any ideas regarding this years’s Mudspike Christmas Flight? The reason I ask is that I am looking at flying it in XP11 this year. I would want to get some good airfields (like LOWI above).
I realize that it is still a bit early for detailed planning, but if we had some idea for the general region of the destination, it would help. Just a thought.
It is definitely time to start thinking about the Christmas trek, although a few people here are still making their way to Melbourne, Australia.
Another one to keep an eye on. It’s not released yet, but evidently very soon. The DCS Huey has some competition (as long as you don’t want to get shot at of course)…
The Nimbus Studios UH1H Huey.
Wait, I still haven’t reached Samoa yet.
If you think that it’s easy building an airplane out of a wrecked Boxcar, you might have been in the sun too long.
Later from ORBX:
Their True Earth scenery is just jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I gotta have this one, just like I had to have all the others. I still wish they had headed North from Washington though.
Come on True Earth…do NZ…you know you want to…
Yeah, North would be good…but I’d also love to see them get to Idaho, so South works good too as long as they go East after Oregon…haha…
I believe the plan is to head South all the way to Southern California and then hop over to the East coast. So we will probably have to wait for Idaho…
One nice thing with the new OrbX software is that it allows you to specify where you install the scenery. That will make it very easy to spread your scenery over a number of SDD/HDD’s if you want to. That’s good because I can see I am going to be needing more disk space if they keep releasing scenery at the current rate.
First, TrueEarth US Oregon HD & SD are out. ( HD - Ortho Zoom Level 17; SD - Ortho Zoom Level 16; )
Second, did you listen to this interview with Austin Meyer already ? I dont know, but I would like to hear some more ambitious plans from him
Me too (or is it three or four). An interesting decision. Although, with FSX they did the Pacific North West which covered a lot (all?) of Oregon…but it also covered some of B.C.
Quite frankly, while I am see from their video that the scenery looks great, I’m not that interested. IMHO, B.C. and the “Pacific Fjords” offer much more “exciting” scenery and airfields…
I’m thinking that they want to cover areas with more towns and cities. I guess not everyone is into bush type flying and maybe they feel there is a greater market if they cover the West coast of the US.
You are probably correct. The funny thing is that with the Pacific Fjords and S Alaska, I didn’t really do much bush flying. I did my flying from one paved airfield to another with the knowledge that there was no safe place to set down kin between
Ah looks like this is the first title where they stopped giving the 40% discount on the X-Plane version if you owned the FSX/P3D version, too bad as that made it easy to buy and justify paying the difference for the work it took to convert, but with no discount, it will have to wait for a future sale.
Isn’t True Earth an entirely new product line?
FYI - ORBX is having a cross platform 40% discount. So 40% off X-Plane titles if you previously purchased the FSX version. Alas, most of my purchases were DVDs which evidently do not count. Still, 40% off on titles that I did purchase as downloads…and a strong US$ compared to the AUS$ was a nice savings.
This was mentioned before in this thread:
It looks really good. Evidently still pre-release version. Anyone have this yet?
I have it, but I probably have the original beta release version… looks like they have done some work since then.
