X-Plane Releases Thread (2019)

I have it. Very nicely done and, systems-wise, it is progressing into a very feature-rich module. My problem with is that X-Plane is now VR-Controlls-Only for me. Call me “unreasonable” but that’s how I play. And the A139 has and issue whereby pulling the collective lowers it and raising, drops it. I’ve had a broken English dialog with the developer but totally understand that addressing my issue would satisfy 5 users while focusing on the stuff in his current workflow satisfies hundreds. I’d say that if you don’t use VR controls and you do not currently have a cabin-class helo in your hanger, this is a no-brainer addition.

I’m definitely going to buy this now

I hopped for their PC-6 :slightly_frowning_face:

The ATR Kick Starter was a PR fiasco. It was crafted too much like a hostage scenario (we need $25,000 in two months or the ATR DIES!!!). I would have loved to have seen a MilViz ATR, but just go ahead and make one and sell it.

The PC-6 would be a great product for X-Plane…bummer it probably won’t be converted from P3D.

Some nice free updates to the FlyJSim 737 and 727 packages with some cool effects:

That’s a pity. I think they maybe chose the wrong airplanes for their first two modules. The 310 and Turbo Otter just aren’t all that appealing to many. There are far sexier airplanes that would have generated a lot more interest in the X-Plane community.

As for the ATR Kickstarter, they miscalculated the community response completely. Hopefully that will be a lesson to other devs.

Milviz devs are really at fault for this fiasco.

They literally set the kickstarter up for failure, as if they wanted to prove a point. They didn’t advertise it, they said they didn’t really want to do it, and they said that about X-Plane users:

LOL…“Hey…your ATR is right in there…go ahead…it’s in there…!”

Looks like a pretty nice freeware TNCM - the popular Princess Juliana airport in St. Maarten. Fairly sizeable download 700MB probably due to the custom ortho. I haven’t tried it yet, but am going to give it a whirl today. Includes two other airports on the island as well.

Looks good. Will give it a whirl once my 4TB HDD arrives

Well…that makes my “Carenado 310 for XP or Milviz 310 for XP” decision a bit easier…just say’n :slightly_smiling_face:

This one might be worth considering Will. I think it is well worth the price.

Looks good and the price is right.

Actualy thats the only other 310 for XP iirc.

There are so many interesting aircraft coming to X-Plane these days. It’s getting impossible to keep up.

Here’s an interesting update to one of my favorite default aircraft - the Laminar MD-82. This guy has tweaked the ACF file apparently to make the performance and behavior more in line with the real thing. I don’t know how he has done this, and can’t make any judgements on it, but it sure looks like a lot of work:

  1. The engine exhaust has been moved 5 ft. aft to the correct location for each engine.

  2. The default CG has been moved -12.0 inches forward, and 12.0 inches up , to more closely match the actual aircraft CG location, in the X-Plane default payload configuration. This greatly improves the aircrafts pitch stability, and reduces the effects of power changes on pitch.

  3. The wing fuel tanks have been moved slightly forward, and the center tank has been moved slightly aft, to more closely match the actual aircraft specifications.

  4. The geometry of the wing and horizontal stabilizer have been modified slightly , to more closely match the actual aircraft.

  5. The geometry of the engine pylons has been modified to more closely match the actual aircraft. This greatly reduces adverse lift and drag from the pylons.

  6. The engine thrust angle has been reduced from +3.0 degrees to -1.0 degree , to more closely match the actual aircraft. While the engine nacelles and pylons on this aircraft are pitched up 3.0 degrees to reduce drag, the engine nozzles and the engine thrust are not. This reduces the effects of power changes on the aircrafts pitch angle.

  7. The engines have been flat-rated to 1,600 ft., and 100% N1 has been increased to 8,200 RPM, to match the actual aircraft engine specifications.

  8. The pitch coefficient of the flaps has been modified to reduce the effects of the flaps on the aircrafts pitch.

  9. The maximum up elevator deflection has been decreased from 27 to 25 degrees to reduce the elevator sensitivity and prevent over controlling.

  10. The main landing gear has been modified slightly to improve the static ground pitch and to make the wheels maintain better contact with the runway.

  11. The horizontal stabilizer incidence angle has been changed from 0 to +1.0 degrees, and the horizontal stabilizer trim range has been changed to -4 to +12 degrees. This change allows the cockpit trim gauge to now correctly indicate the actual horizontal stabilizer incidence angle.

  12. The engine reverser deployment time has been reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second , to more closely match the actual aircraft.

  13. The autopilot type has been changed from Custom to Airliner.

  14. The default takeoff trim has been changed to 5 degrees UP, which is the correct setting for the default aircraft weight and CG, and also matches the green takeoff trim indicator. This indicator, and the recommended takeoff trim setting, changes with the aircraft CG and weight.

  15. The landing gear warning alarm has been modified to occur with a flap setting of 28 degrees or more, instead of 15 degrees, to match the actual aircraft specifications.

  16. The landing gear tire friction has been increased to improve taxi speed control, and to insure that the aircraft will slow down and come to a full stop under idle engine power.

  17. Complete Installation Instructions are in the README file included with this update.

  18. A separate comprehensive MD-80 Flying Tips document, which includes an easy to use Weight and Balance Guideline , is also included with this update. The Weight and Balance Guideline allows you to easily configure different passenger and cargo loads, and correctly set the Payload and CG sliders in X-Plane.

Here is one that I’m interested in…but probably not at the $30 price point. I’m not saying it isn’t justified, but I just don’t know that I can justify that.

in case you will not get a green light on that one I would recomend to try the default S-76. It is not top of the line but its available and there was some recent update released for it

and checklists

I do really enjoy flying the 76. I wasnt aware it had been updated. That’s brilliant. I’ll see what liveries I can get for it and might well use that as the aw139 is still a bit early access in some places from what I’ve read.

I will get on this and have a root around for an awesome paint job…'psst @komemiute white camouflage would look lovely or perhaps a LA fire department air wing’s
