“Extensive” is good but a big ambiguous. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on what that means?
EDIT: Other Carenado aircraft feature:
VR compatible click spots.
I wonder what the difference is.
EDIT 2:
So another one lists:
Extensive VR support with snap points in every passenger seat (All knobs, buttons, dials, handles, etc. also optimized for VR usage)
Snap points? Click and move to that seat?
I wonder if @BeachAV8R is going to do a PC Pilot article to delve into what developers are (and are not) doing to make their XP11 mods work better in VR
Per Mudspike forum guidelines my hitting “Like” on the above post was in now way meant to support or detract from any political personality, campaign, or agenda…I just thought it was funny.
Well…I broke down and purchased two Carenado mods–the Do-228 (VR compatible click spots) and Cheyenne II PA31T (Extensive VR support with snap points in every passenger seat (All knobs, buttons, dials, handles, etc. also optimized for VR usage). The latter is a “New” release (May) so technically applicable to this thread.
I’m not exactly overjoyed. I might be doing something wrong but…
I started up the Do-228 in VR and found myself sitting “inside” the pilot. I figured out how to shift the perspective to get a “mostly” clear visual…but then couldn’t seem to get any of the buttons to work or any of the knobs to turn.
So then with the Cheyenne…the pilot figure was sitting very low so no problem there. Some of the levers Flaps, Parking Brake worked…sort of…and some of the gauges worked not at all (Flaps Indicator)
…and like most (all) Carenado products, the manuals are pretty slim–nothing about how to set up for VR.
It seems that first I had to bring up a new plane in normal (non-VR) view so I could enter the registration code. In my defense I couldn’t find that written down anywhere. Still…anyway much better now.
Noticing that a few new aircraft advertise coming with librain for rain effects. I’ve done some searches looking how to install t but all I have seen is how to get it to work with the SDK. I figure I’m just supposed to drop the flurry I to a folder somewhere but…where?
Also, neart as I can tell this doesn’t work with VR (yet)?
A little something that will pique the interest of @smokinhole I suspect . The YouTube videos look great. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the DCS Huey.
It is a 1.5 GB download! Wow. Expect to see some screenshots later today!
Edit> Currently the download zip has a corrupt file. It is just a texture for one of the liveries (Colombian Police), so it works just fine as long as you avoid using that livery for now.
First I was like ‘nice, but what to do with another Huey !?’ then I have read following and seems like it is must have. With that features it is suitable for Xmas flight. Huey for VFR and Twin-Huey for IFR
Maintenance module:
if you want a more realistic experience you can choose if you want the helicopter to require maintenance with time and usage, depending on how you fly and engine exceedance the mechanical components will degrade and performance will be affected.
Copilot:
We created a “copilot” module that will allow you to hand over control and forget about flying so you can move to the back, enjoy the view, the sound or even use the side mounted guns.
But I am leaving in few days going to Portugal, so this needs to wait a bit.
I am intrigued about this line from the sales page:
VR support with large levels of VR configuration for greater VR ergonomics
The “enhanced” VR that Carenado advertises is OK but nothing to write home about…let alone post in a Mudspike forum. The DCS VR support (in the aircraft that have it) is about as good as it gets…much better than anything I’ve tried in XP11 so far.
…which reminds me that I haven’t tried Xplane in VR yet.
But I don’t have high hopes based on that you reported not-so-great performance with your rig that was twice the price of mine…
No, I haven’t gotten that one yet. Looks pretty good…but once you’ve flown one G1000 you have sort of flown them all. I’d get it on sale probably. Also curious about how they’ve done VR…
Literally dream come true for me. Best looking airliner ever. I’ve wanted to learn to fly one since they came out. I rarely get excited by airliners but the cargo md11 is a thing of beauty. I’ll be watching this extremely closely. Great
