X-Plane Releases Thread (2020)

AirSpray 1.03 is available at the Org Store. @PaulRix @smokinhole

In a separate email, he answered my inquiry about the size of the fires: “That is a planned future update. They will start out bigger when fighting with bigger aircraft, and they will spread the longer you take to get to them.”

Great. Thanks!

imo the best helo for XP is XTrident Bell412.

be aware that the Eurocopter is XP10 version, not yet updated for XP11, but iirc its on their list to be updated next.

!!

I already got the 407, but maybe I need both now! Both recommended by real world pilots is high praise.

The 412 is great. The 407 is simple and that is part of the joy. The 412 is a little more complex. It can can really haul a lot of stuff. And it’s stable with an old-school but powerful autopilot. But be careful. If heavy and landed aggressively (especially hot and high) you will run out of left pedal. The model comes with lots of accessories for EMS, sling loads and fire-fighting. I’ve put more time in the 412 than any other machine in XP. Another great choice is the free 429 for which XTrident generously allowed the use of the 412’s plugin.

The firefighting in the 412 works really well and is quite fun. A few things I’ve learned: The smoke is pretty easy to see at 4-5 miles. Inside 4 miles it actually gets harder. I only spot about 50% of the fires. A full load in the 412 will put out everything I have fought thus far. Rivers are great for refilling because you can top off without getting slow and running out of left pedal. Airspray does not use the water bombing attachment but it does require it to be fitted. Be sure to dump all the water from the real mechanism before filling with the Airspray plugin. Otherwise you will be carry double the weight but with no added dumping capability. This would be a fun multiplayer app if XP had the capability.

Great choice oc; spend some time with her and on next sale you can try the 412.

I have both and my only wish is that DF will update also that 206 and 350 soon enough ( lets say before MSFS get helos )

I got impatient and bought both - I’m away from home but I have something to look forward to on my return now!

Just read about the development of both the 407 and 412 - I realised I knew precious little about them. I had somehow lumped them together as iterations of the same original design, which is of course incorrect.

The 407 by the looks is ultimately derived from Bell’s entry for the Light Observation Helicopter program designed to replace the Sioux (the LOH program was won by Hughes with the Cayuse - produced as the MD-500 today), whereas the 412 seems to be basically a twin-engined Huey on steroids.

Yep. In fact the 412 is essentially the same machine as the UH-1N, the “Twin Huey”.

I think the 407 is a close resemblance of the Kiowa as well, at least in flight performance.

Update released for the iniBuilds A300, lots of fixes.

Good list…can’t say I’m real interested in any of them though. I already get antsy after an hour in the sky in the MD88…so I couldn’t handle those ultra long haulers. Maybe a cargo A380 to bring the shrimp AND the shrimp boat to a new city…

I am following this one closely. Looking forward to it very much.

The A380 is by inibuilds, which just released the A300. They are releasing a pax version of the A300 for free for anyone that bought the cargo version. So it would be safe to assume if there is an a380 cargo version that we would get one as well.

@Victork2 the MD11 is number one on that list for me. I have been waiting since they announced it years ago.

Was Rotate doing an MD-11 too? Oh yeah… You would think in a crowded market maybe FF would go for the DC-10 instead…

https://rotatesim.com/category/md-11/

Yep rotate is doing the MD11. I love the 88 they did. Thats why I’m so excited for the MD11.

As for FF. I think they are just logically progressing through the boeing line up. They did the 777 then the 757 then the 767 so 787 makes sense.
