X-Plane releases thread

Tough choice between that and that 550 which also looks nice.
Phenom has more range though, and I think it is faster as well.

Now, has anyone done a decent Citation X already?
I just love that bird.

I’m guessing is this the end of the River Visual to DCA (I used to fly that approach…pre 9/11)…

When I watch that clip, I can’t help but have this theme rising to my consciousness.

Concerning the Kodiak condition lever behavior, I reviewed the applicable parts in the manual and it functions in the usual manner. That is High Idle for normal operation, Low Idle for reduced thrust, such as taxiing, and fully back for Fuel Shutoff. Beta mode is engage by moving the power lever to it’s extreme rear position. The prop lever is to manage a governed RPM range between 1900 and 2200.

As a comparison, I flew the the RWDesigns DH-6 and the Carenado TBM850, which have similar functioning controls. Both of these aircraft behaved as one would expect, and extended taxiing times with the condition levers in Low Idle position did not induce a critical rise in ITT.

All of these aircraft engage beta as a switch only, IE. on or off. On my Warthog throttle, I use the DX28 and DX29 buttons for this (rear of throttle movement and lift).

That being said, Austin has said that he sees ITT rises in his personal aircraft depending on which accessories are running, especially air conditioning. With that in mind, he has been tinkering with low idle behavior in the beta. I’m pretty sure that when XP11 reaches production status, that it will be a quick task for the Kodiak developer to tweak the low idle behavior of that aircraft.

How about you real life PT6 operators? Do you need to shut down the air conditioner while in low idle?

I’ve never had to, but only because you must have the right condition lever at nor near high idle for the compressor to even work. If you try to run the A/C in low idle you will get an “N1 LOW” caution on the panel.

So, given that situation on a hot day, say a patient pickup at KPDK in August, do you just ask the folks in the back to deal with it, run the right engine in high, and left low, or both high? Enquiring simmers want to know.

When it is warm or hot - we run the right engine in high idle to allow the compressor to run. It has very little impact on taxi thrust. The left engine usually stays in low idle.

Very interesting, I suppose it’s not impossible then. Some aircraft are designed to be a bit on the heavy side for when it comes to whatever they bolt onto the AGB.

Apparently XP11 left beta status this morning! Great news as many developers were waiting to update until the beta phase was complete…

That’s fantastic news! That beta period was relatively short though, quite impressive.

Now we go through the Release Candidate stage, although my splash screen updated this morning still reports Beta. Yeah, hoping for some 3rd party updates of course

splash screen is often behind. The final release of any version often has the last RC# on the splash screen.

XP11 released on Steam today - not sure why anyone would want to utilize it from that platform actually…but there it is…

Most likely they just want the exposure that comes with Steam.

One reason is that it’s cheaper in my local currency on Steam than via the X-Plane store. But to be honest I’d rather pay the extra to put more money directly to Laminar without the Steam cut.

I really like XPlane now. I’ve got an awful lot invested in the the FSX/P3D platform, but it doesn’t hurt so much to walk away from that anymore, considering what I’m walking toward.

XPlane has been giving me outstanding performance at 4K with pretty much everything maxed out. I’m flying it pretty much stock, the exception being a free texture add-on for airport textures. In my opinion, the night time visuals are better than what I see in my highly tweaked P3D simulator. I’ve been flying the stock C172 on PilotEdge lately and can say it’s a very good model, but I’m looking forward to some updated 3rd party add-ons.

stoooop telling me you’re maxing out xp visuals plz. It makes me jealous.

And then pushes me towards spending the $2000 it would require to get me there.

Kthx.

Nice tweaking tool that brings back some of the menu adjustments that will allow you to tailor XP11 to your liking…

About time. That is awesome. Now if I could figure out how to put a curve on both brake pedal axis, I’d be complete.

Looks like MisterX has taken some of his offerings in the payware direction (I don’t blame him!). His new company ShortFlight Design just released KSLC - Salt Lake City…
