Air Hauler 2 for X-Plane discussion thread

Yep - true enough.

Whoa already? Man. I thought I had weeks! I haven’t figured out how to get my setup going yet. Guess I have a task tomorrow evening.

You should go with the glider for Air Hauler. Extra challenge. @PaulRix and @smokinhole are probably seriously considering that…

So, ah, if this releases tomorrow, are we getting a Mudspike Airlines, @BeachAV8R?

Well, it is 7am in London and 6pm here in Auckland…that post is talking about mid-morning UK time release.

If all goes really well, I might even get to try it out before bedtime tonight…but that’s probably wishful thinking. :slightly_smiling_face:

We should probably have a separate thread created with a tombstone data opening post that then gets locked.

Outline the VA’s starting hq, purchased planes, etc…

Have that updated when there are changes.

All that stuff will get lost in this thread.

I’ll gin something up in a bit.

This thread reminds me a little of the Elite thread and other threads associated with complex games that have a grind element. To the participants, the flow of the discussion seems logical. To a noob it paints a picture that is increasingly convoluted. I am not being critical. I still have only the thinnest grasp of what Air Hauler is and even less of what FSEconomy is and I am not sure if either would be of interest to me. My recommendation to capture as many potential participants as possible would be to place a beginner’s guide in post #1 with the basics like what-is-it, requirements, links, sceneries and Mudspike’s house rules. In other words, I am suggesting that someone else do the homework for me…er…MY FRIEND so that HE/SHE can decide if HE/SHE is interested.

Yes, you bring up legitimate points - things that @fearlessfrog was often pointing out to us - that we should attempt to start more topics in order to not clump new information with old information and threads that run thousands of replies long. It also helps prevent that “tribal” aspect where a newcomer may not want to dive in when they are overwhelmed with information. It is easy to fall into that rut of familiarity for sure. I’ll definitely come up with a new topic with some details (as soon as I find out what those details are - I don’t know anything about setting up a group company type thing…)

This thread is still fine for discussing. But those base elements need to be captured in a separate thread that is basically locked. It has a post for what AH2 is. A
post for how to set up. A post for the VA details. Etc… But no discussion.

If the thread is locked I would only add a link to the discussion thread to that list.

So don’t expect anything to happen fast today guys - I’m going to be going through the AH2 manual and setting up the Virtual Airline, but it will take a bit to make sure I get it right.

The way I see it is that I’ll have two companies:

Mudspike Air Cargo (my personal account where I’m going to start with the highest difficulty setting - Nomad mode and 20% reputation…

and…

Mudspike Air Cargo (VA) - or we can rename it to Mudspike Air Delivery and have that run in parallel with FSE.

Ideas or opinions on a name for the company we all fly for?

I could also open a new sub-forum for Air Hauler and FSE as I think it will probably get a good amount of use. That way it could have a sticky or two. At least…I think I can open a new sub-forum…I see @Fridge getting nervous anytime I say I can maybe do something…

Lol. I only sort by new. Could help those that use that view though.

Slight segue… How the heck do you view the .org forums in mobile??

Hmm…I don’t think I’ve ever tried the .ORG forums on mobile. Looks like there is a little hamburger menu in the upper right of the screen that will take you to the forums (on my iPhone anyway)…
