Dog Farts! It just crashed again - same Unhandled Exception you got. So, it seems it works ONCE.

I’m still getting the “Waiting” issue when trying to get a type rating…AH2 opens XP but doesn’t load the mission.
Avast was mentioned in the help threads but bringing down the shields didn’t help. I’ll try a fresh XP install next and try to get AH2 work with a completely vanilla install with nothing but AH2.

Did you try setting AH to “Network Mode”? Via Options tab. From there you click Fly Now, load cargo fuel, set departure/destination and fly/ok. Then you start XP, set it up, jump into cockpit. Then go back and click OK in AH. Should connect (Yellow Wating to Green)

I’ll try that next…just copying scenery files to back them up before the almost inevitable reinstall. But I’ll try the networked mode first. I played around with it on Saturday but may not have done the right things.
I can’t imagine it’s an install thing. I hadn’t touched my install in like 2 hours and everything just works. I had to update my saitekpanels and flywithlua plugins since they were out of date (and there’s apparently a windows 10 issue I need to fix for for the panels) bit other than that everything has worked flawlessly.
Note: there’s 2 places you can set “Network Mode”; for individual acft (a check box in there at the end) and globally (applies to all aircraft). I just set it globally via the Options tab.
There’s been a report of the Unhandled Exception we’ve both seen now. 2 Days ago it was posted. Dev say’s he can’t repro - so I sent him another quick bug report.

My only thought is a personal fund transfer until that’s worked out; fly job on my end and transfer 25%? to MAD. Trust me

You could be right - but being as useless with computers as I am, rather than trying to pick out the plugins I have out of the install, I think I’m better of starting clean and knowing that there’s nothing but the core game and AH2 running - that way, if it still doesn’t work, I know where not to look. A process of elimination, I guess…

Good idea.
I’m trying (but it’s hard) not to put any more in there than I feel is absolutely necessary. And nothing that runs, or implies it runs, constantly. Except the one for my seat shaker. Gotta have that.
OH, and I’m using the XP beta 9.

As I’ve worked through all this today (and yesterday…and the day before) I recall that it’s been 40 YEARS of this with flight sims. Shesh.
However, that last flight, in VR, was the most compelling flight sim experience I’ve ever had, grainy view and all. Like, 90% there - where I’d imagined it might get that day, hunched over my Radio Shack Tandy 1000 with the 8086 cpu and wireframe sim! Just need my own personal centrifuge now to attach the whole apparatus to the end of. So, maybe 99% there is just fine

Had to nudge my cowl flaps open a bit…oil temperature was creeping up into the red…
Yeah, I’m going to [gulp] suck it up and get Oregon TE (among others). I figure FS2020 aint gonna be ‘stable’, if even usable, for me in VR for at least another year. It was just such a stark diff. when I cross the WA/OR border yesterday.
Ha…we’ve been on about the same ride. I started with the Commodore 64. Actually, a friend of mine had a PC…can’t remember what it was, but it had an even earlier version of Flight Simulator on it. All wire frame. So many good times over the years. Given the journey from where we started…I always find it hard to get too jaded about our current sims. I mean…wow…
