Looks like it. Dot-Net to be more correct I guess. But that’s not a bad thing necessarily. I use (or used to) C-Sharp quite a bit. Conceptually not much different than, say, Java. I’d not want to write AH in C/C++ as it’s a GUI-centric app.
I think I read in the manual that cargo capacity is full fuel and whatever is left over is useful load. So if you are only needing to run with 90 minutes or 2 hours of fuel, you can shove more cargo in. I have a sticky note on my monitor reminding me not to sign up for contracts for more that about 600 lbs. in the Husky. That allows me to have about two hours of fuel…which should get me to an alternate if necessary.
What @BeachAV8R said. The 487 is with a full load of fuel. I carried 687 lbs 120 miles no problem. So the cargo number is with full fuel, but you need to look at your max weight, the shorter the trip the more cargo you can take.
Man, some of these smaller strips you better google to figure out where they are before you try landing. I guess real pilots may be better at it, but I can’t find these things from the air unless I know exactly what I’m looking for, and even then. Easier at night if they have runway lights, but otherwise oof.
This “private” airstrip I just went into was pretty nice though. Good amount of buildings, couple planes parked there. Fun times. Love seeing the scenery - wouldn’t find these if you just aimed for commuter spots all the time.
Vulcan Mind Meld there…as I was inbound from WN57, in the soup, the sim started glitching a little - studders every few seconds. Seems I had accidentally turned on recording (was writing to disk in spurts, causing the stutter). I’m sitting there thinking, “Man, I do NOT want to have to start this thing up again”, thereby putting some real-world consequences into getting on the ground (and the box checked in AH), in one piece.
Put me down for October. Have a lot of RW traveling then
Have always wondered about that, thanks for the clarification.
Yup. WN47 was like that. Had to go out to SkyVector (World Low/VFR sectional) and study it a bit enroute. Helped, a little. It was hard to see at sunset with overcast and [the perpetual] haze.
The excellent news is that I’m maybe 2 flights away from having paid the months rent, and it’s only due June 22
edit: As an aside, the stock (or is it part of Orbx Washington) KPUW has decent enough buildings, markings, etc… don’t think I’m going to replace it with the aerosoft.
It seems to me ah2 load number does not present the same way as XP does. If you use the network mode and set cargo and gas numbers as ah2 says in the last screen, XP would show gross weight more than ah2 number by 170lbs. That’s the pilot, I think. The cargo number in XP does not include pilot, but it does add 170lbs to the gross weight. So, use the cargo load number in the load page in ah2, not the last page. Matters in the case of little Cessna 172.
I’d have to stick with shorter trips (not that I want longer ones), loading fuel for just 150nm (about 105lbs) or less, and sometimes take two trips for just 600lbs goods. With the always miserable weather on the west side of the mountain, I’m really depressed by the prospective of getting enough rep to lease a bigger plane.
I may live to regret my decision…but I’m starting out in the tundra-tyre Super Cub. Performance-wise it’s actually not that different to the C172, but it should do well on any bush strip gigs, even if the load capacity is small.
I fired it up and tried to do the type rating, but was in a rush and had too high vertical speed on landing, doh…“it’ll buff out”, said AH2, but didn’t give me a rating
Need to do some work for a few hours now, but tonight I’ll try to get my checkride and maybe even a paying ride done.
Oh, and my avionics just went out the very moment I took off from a small stripe. Ah2 gave a message that something was wrong with my electrical. No kidding. Not very confident (or willing to) in going back, I just turned on XP map, and pretend that’s the Google map on my phone. After all, my next stop was just 7nm away. Then the repair cost me 10k There goes my last 2 or 3 jobs…
