Air Hauler 2 for X-Plane discussion thread

I use Google Earth to do some recon prior to flights for sure. I also tend not to fly direct to the airport for the last 5 miles or so…I like to offset using heading mode so that I’m getting some angle to look “down the runway” (even if it isn’t the runway I will eventually land on). Some of the real life Podunk airports I’ve been to can creep up on you. If they are buried in high treelines, sometimes you just have to overfly it and pick some visual points off the extended runway centerline to use as reference points. It is actually one of the things I really enjoy about my job - going to the odd airports up in the mountains or out in the middle of the sticks.

We need to rewire that Butt Kicker to give you an electronic shock if you ever over-G the cargo…

Sounds fun. Good news is you have a legit 200 and 1/2 ILS there huh? I’ll have to keep that in mind. I’d like to open another base up over there since I’m really itching to get to those Idaho backcountry strips…

That’s good. Me…I have botulism from eating 350 pounds of shrimp last night.

Haha…it’s doable. I need to go back and check my old MAC account and see how many days it took for me to get to the 40 REP in order to get a bank loan…I’ll check and see.

One of us. One of us. (Well, I’m in a Husky…but close enough). Is that an IFR capable Cub?

What is the maintenance status of your airplane? 100%? I didn’t think random failures started to appear until you’ve dinged up the plane a bit…but maybe not…

Interesting reading how you all are getting along. This is fun.

Yep! It has a decent sixpack, the standard XP GPS and from memory might even have a couple of VOR receivers. Should be all good for a bit of drizzle…

Agreed! While it’s a bit frustrating with the issues, it feels like we’re all getting through it together hehe.

Yeah…I really want to make that decision on aircraft purchase soon to populate those trips for you guys. I’m a horrible CEO though…decisions decisions…

Definitely don’t look at this slide then…the time it took in AH2 P3D to get to 40 REP. But do keep in mind I took a few months off. If you look at it in the “phases” where I was flying a lot, it really only took about 6 weeks maybe. I just stretched it out as I dove in and out of the Air Hauler experience.

Alright…gonna run 588 pounds of car parts from KEAT to KHRI - about 102nm and the weather is OK…so hoping 17 gallons of gas will be enough…

Decisions, decisions!

I wouldn’t worry too much / get too attached to our V1.0 company right now, to be honest - it might well be that we’ll get a big update that wipes all progress in a month’s time or something, so in my view we just do what feels about right and not worry too much.

If we end up bankrupt alcoholics, well, that’s quite realistic isn’t it  but then we can start again!

I guess my thoughts are - I know that eventually some people might want expensive jetliners etc. down the line and don’t want to “grind through” the bush stuff again, but I don’t think we should push too hard for that stuff four days from launch, that’s just asking to be disappointed.

I’d say we take it easy, figure out if and how it all works in the XP version first and take it from there…if AH2 is going well and stable a patch or two from here, it’s a different story.

Thanks…this was exactly the counsel I needed. I’ve made a decision.

Mudspike company is it what it is. If people are they gung-ho for jetliners, they can open companies with tons of cash… Mho.

Thanks. I was about to do that, but good to have confirmation. :+1:

TBH, I’m a little embarrassed about getting down here after dark. Having been through the same experience IRL, one would think that I’ve learned my lesson.

No worries. Too bad - a holiday means all the pizza and beer joints in Shelton are closed… :see_no_evil:

Does it give you the option to truck the stuff there if you are that close?

I’m sure that it would if I unload the beef. But that would be caving, and I’m going to get a good night sleep and head over there in the morning. Need to see this place, Bear Valley Skyranch.

It is 100%. Apparently that doesn’t mean things don’t break down

Would someone mind telling me how to shutdown my career? I want to restart in Normal (as opposed to easy) and take out a lone for the DC-3. I will still be “smokinhole” and my company will still be Smokin’ Hole Innovative Transit.

Oops. Got it. Loading screen.

Same thing happened to me on my first paid flight just now…an 85NM hop for 386 lbs of chemicals, got paid 1,930 quid…less a landing fee of 6.15…and a failed attitude indicator…5,000…doh!

:fearful: thanks for the heads up. Going back to work now :sob:

Ouch. First flight… Now I feel better  good luck, to you and me!

Oh, oh. Just left there! Dang, I tried to get screen shots of the thing as I approached, to file a report, but they came out so low-res as to be unusable. Might have helped you and others. I’ll try fix this for subsequent flights.

Got the Twin Beech in there and out, though wasn’t sure there was enough runway (was plenty).
