That is a shame. A simple dialogue box that pops up in both modules warning you of that fact before you bought the product would seem to suffice to me.
This is a commodity.
It can not be used to build aircraft.

This is an aircraft part.
It can only be used to build an aircraft at an aircraft factory.

Edit:
Forgot to ask. Are there parts available to build a Beech Starship.
Probably - and the reason is I think Air Hauler just looks at the aircraft you have in your stock and imported aircraft inventory and then generates cost and weight of those airplane parts and distributes them around the Air Hauler world. I don’t see any aircraft parts for aircraft that are not part of my X-Plane install.
Check this out - so I went to do some stuff around the house, came back and re-launched Air Hauler and ------ the parts inventory in Bellingham changed and they had a Kodiak engine in stock…! WOOT!!
A AC mech/tech subreddit has periods where ‘lockwires’ are the hottest thing in town. Some real gem’s show up! You also get a few “there was an attempt” things going on and such.
Anyway, Beech’s aircraft will mostly be locktite and speedtape, given the hourly rate I get
So I still don’t have a grand total on my Kodiak, since I’m still two parts short. BUT, in all my travels, I’ve revealed the prices and inventories for a full Dornier 228 (dang…I should have built one of those!).
Adding together the parts (remember you have to have two engines) comes to a grand total of $497,641 to build a brand new Do228. That doesn’t quite include the shipping costs of sending the parts to Pullman, but assume a worst case scenario of $1,500 x 8 parts = another $12K.
That is way cheaper than a brand new Do228 bought from the marketplace which runs about 1.57 million! So even factoring in the 800K factory start up cost - you’d still be coming out better by building. And that 800K is a one time cost, so any future aircraft you build will not have that cost associated.
I’ll see if I can make some comparisons with other aircraft parts too and see if that 1/3 of the price of new holds true for all of them.
I’m also wondering if it is possible for me to send my AI pilot to go to those locations and pick up the Do288 parts. Maybe I should just build one of those…
I’m going to send my AI pilot “Destiny” (rawrrrr) with the Husky and some commodities to Boeing Field. Then I’ll have her hop over to CYYJ and see if it is possible to buy those Dornier parts when she gets there.
In looking at all of the parts inventory from places I’ve visited so far…the only planes I could have built to completion so far (meaning all 6 parts + # of engines) are:
Cessna 185
EV-55 Evektor
L-5 Sentinel
For all the rest of the planes I would be at least one part short, but for some planes multiple parts short.
As another example though - the Cessna 185 if I built it from parts would be $118,864 compared to a market price new of $356,349 so it does appear to be a 1/3 price ratio of build to buy.
I’ve read too that when you build a plane - it does not SELL for the same price as a new plane. So you couldn’t build planes at 1/3 the price and then go sell them on the market apparently - unless maybe you were selling them on the Private Sales market (?)…
Confirmed that an AI pilot can buy inventory that you have discovered at an airport they are at. Sent Destiny to KBFI and was able to buy two Dornier parts. Sending her to CYYJ now to pick up (or buy) three more Dornier parts.
