Civil Aviation Ministry of Information thread

I haven’t tried it yet, but it should work in VR too!

A friend and colleague has a vacation routine where he goes to the US and does some Aerobatics with Patty and then off to one of the rent-a-warbird outfits and gets a couple of flights in.
I’m going to tag along one day… One day…!

I used to fly with her sister on Guam a lot. I learned VERY QUICKLY that, “What’s Patty like?” was not a welcome topic. Very different people I guess but she was nice to fly with. Their father was also an airline pilot I think.

I guess that never went anywhere because of the noise?

They need to revive it, add two more of those prop engines to it, and run it at Reno! It will fit right in…

That and fuel prize going down i think.

That and the world already has successful unducted turbofans. They’re called “turboprops”!

Noise was an issue. But I think another was the level of vibration in the aft cabin, especially in the MD-92. And while it is true that passengers have been killed by uncontained fan failures, by far the majority of failures are maintained inside the core. Can you imagine having 24 blades spinning in the wind just inches from your face. Nah, this idea belonged in the same heap as the Pogo.

The video probably explains this but my Klingon is rusty. Why? That tractor can’t be worth more than a fraction of the cost to fish it. Not to mention the risk.

Yeah…that’s what I was figuring…they had a training budget and this afforded them opportunity to put that budget to good use too. Plus maybe Farmer Jim…or Farmer Nicolas as it were…had some good times on that tractor back when he was dating the other farmer’s daughter…couldn’t stand to leave those memories on the bottom of the sea…

Or the M. Night Shyamalan ending to the story: dear Olivia was handcuffed to the steering wheel…so they are retrieving evidence…

I bet $12k won’t touch that Kubota. Tractors are pricey. I bet it’s closer to $40k.

I’ll also say…that’s a badass looking helicopter. Is that the one that was in FSX as one of the default helos?

I actually picked one similar up from the Witham specialist vehicle auctions for 14k not long ago. Customer paid for that and a gigantic mower to be delivered on the same load. I think the mower was more expensive than the tractor If I remember
