Civil Aviation Ministry of Information thread

Yeah I am pretty sure I can lift ~50 kg with one arm (since my weight is double of that and I can do pull-ups) but 150kg is way out of my league
#feeble

Strong men aside, no human can hold a significant weight (in terms of keeping a glider aloft) in the grasp of a fist with the cylinder formed by the fist in line with the load. The whole thing was a joke. I totally see my club pulling the same stunt but our insurance company would tear up the policy the moment the video went live. It was a “hold my beer” moment done with some skill by two friends who wanted to fly on an otherwise crappy soaring day.

What is a proper aerobatic plane, you ask?

I can report that I saw NO men in jet packs last night while I was flying. After what I did to that bird a few days ago…all fleshy flying objects are keeping out of my way…

Really? We hit a bird a couple of nights ago too. No damage. Just a nice smear.

No jetpacks though.

Windscreen thump? Those are always sickening to hear. I’ve never had one that hit the windscreen actually go through an engine though…so I’d rather it bounce off the windscreen (errr…small birds) than go through the engine.

Somewhat related, but on a personal rant - I hate airport ATISs that add “bird in the vicinity of the airport”. What a waste of a sentence. And congrats to Raleigh Durham for now having the longest ATIS east of the Mississippi. I find I have to shave between tuning it in and reaching the end of it. (Maybe it was an exceptional night…the taxiway closures went on for like three minutes…)

Get off my lawn! LOL… Sorry. I’m tired.

LOL! I know! What do they want us to do with that info…? Of course there are birds in the vicinity!

Got to admit, the scene which got me most excited was the quick snapshot of the chocolate cake. :yum: I also noticed that young man had an “Oshkosh” T-shirt on. Small world.

One hell of a wild ride for these pilots.

And a lot of new pants were sold that day.

Yeah that video is famous for a reason!

Wow! Just wow.

My work got hit a couple of weeks back. an SF25c got airborne and hopped into a farmers field taking out the beacon on the tail of the second SF25c. A third slid back towards the second SF but ran the tail into the bosses car. Total damage Beacon, Rudder and an Aileron destroyed. Bosses car with a large dent. All unmanned.

One of the rare occasions that damage makes an aircraft fly Better. “Patch” feels much better with the new rudder
