You know, I once had a mildly negative impression of Williams, but this is a new Williams. A professional one. I like this Williams. I like what I’m seeing, too. I’m liking it a lot. I think I might go throw money at their Patreon, too.

I think some will love this, others will remember the clusterflock on the DCS Fw-190 forums.

Cool!

Two things. I am a bit tired of hearing Discord updates in the backgrounds of videos. Small thing? Yeah, I know but it makes my head explode. It’s an aural equivalent to ā€œClippyā€.

2nd. Good for them! We flight sim enthusiasts have such a distorted view (pun intended) of how visible our simulated world should be. Our eyes suck! Yes, I’m even speaking to you, Chuck Yeager! I can’t spot A380s four miles away. Much less a FW at 15. (Depending on atmosphere and lighting of course). Then there’s the windscreen. It formed in an oven. It’s not perfect. It distorts and reflects. After a month of poor care and over-aggressive cleaning, it’s scratched and hazed.

Those are the two things. A third, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the video, is zoom. Get rid of it! It is maybe the dumbest visual aspect of flight siming. Back in the days of 640x480, it was essential. Today everything is 2K or better. Nobody needs it. But everyone has been trained to think they do.

UGH! I know right?!
I 100% agree with you on that.

Agree again, and nice pun.

AMEN!

This is a typical concession that had to be made as graphics engines didn’t support refraction, and no matter how devs tried to emulate the thick screen, they pissed someone off. Being able to simulate refraction without cheating is too cool!

And this is too a typical concession as sighting enemy aircraft, or anything, for that matter, happens in 3D in real life, but must be emulated in 2D, on a screen.

Both of these subjects result in heated debates between flightsimmers who are, for the most part, limited in experience to other flightsims and because of this nigh impossible to please.

I have come up with a realistic solution to this…I leave one of my contact lenses out…and smear automotive grease on the other lense of my Pimax VR Headset…Realism or Bust Baby!!! :joy:

Smear some grease along the inside of the goggles or on your chair, some where.

Spill some AVGAS some where, too.

You must IMMERSE yourself in the experience!
