About 2,5 years since my last update…

Time to finish this, if it is possible to finish it..?
I’m not sure this design will work, but I need to try.

Raw prints.
I used carbon fibre reinforced PLA for the covers.
Lots of glueing, filling and sanding and then painting to be done… That will be a project for the summer, when I can take it outside.

I like the look though.

I couldn’t wait ’til summer.
We got a period of warmer weather so I rigged a paintbooth in my garage and put in a heater.
Lots of wetsanding, filling, priming and painting later…

While I’m waiting for some aluminium parts to be produced and sent to me, I spend time making eye candy…

Big stepper motors draw a lot of current, gets warm and need cooling… So I put in a small extractor fan on the front part of the cowling.

I know you’re smarter than me, so I shouldn’t worry, but since you said you have an extractor fan, that means the area inside will have a slightly lower air pressure.

Technically speaking to cool a confined space it’s better to have a slight over pressure. More air means more air cooling.

True, but the base isn’t closed. The frame is open beneath the floor of the SimBox. There will be a fan circulating air below the floor and this extractor removing the warm air that rises to the top.

Aah, okay. I was missing the bigger picture! :folded_hands:

Sorry.

I can’t blame you! The bigger picture, or in fact the entire picture, exists inside my head and I’m basically making things up as I go
