What a beautiful cockpit. Yeah, that’s another on my list of barely touched module…it is so sad…but a great problem to have!
Exactly! I’ve been mostly flying the harrier when I’ve had time this year, the F-18 and F-14 are almost ignored by me…
Right now I got refueling the harrier down to a T so I can finally fly the Morning Star mission proper.
Everytime I start up DCS I first force myself to train in the harrier for 15 minutes, doesn’t really matter what task, CASE I recovery, A2A refueling, Flight Regime training. That sort of thing. @Baltic_Dragon 's missions are perfect for this!
Hunting for things to land on
License and registration
They expect me to come through the air!
It’s not working…
The harrier in it’s natural state
A word of caution… DON’T EJECT!
I never eject! Mostly because there’s no time…
Can we get a “climb out” option & keybind?
Open canopy → awkwardly climb out inverted.
I’d also like a RUN button.
Added my wish.
Reminds me of how in OG il2, the pilot would run a bit, then dive forward to lie flat on his face with his hands over his head. Lovely bit of animation, and very funny at times.
CFS3’s pilot would dive away from explosions, and bailing out over water involved a cinematic of laying in a raft.
My vote for the worst and possibly oldest module loading screen goes to (please update it one day! ):
Hello, old friend.
Please take your shoes off before boarding the Black Shark.
She’s a beaut…
A 486DX4 no less, Doom runs pretty good
A well worn cockpit
CHEATER! No fair you have access to the mission editor from the cockpit!
I am disappoint. English in my glorious great motherland helicopter?!
Lenin’s ghost will haunt you for this, comrade.
Glorious helicopter <.trim click> gunship of the motherland does <.trim click> not play well with Abu Dhabi trees.<.trim click> Or perhaps sudden manouvers<.trim click> when going fast. Or perhaps just going too fast. <.trim click>
Anyway, that was fun. Gotta get me my viper on. Put the thing on the thing and let rrrip. That stuff never gets old. And I <3 the NTTR map. It’s gorgeous.
After today’s update I fired up DCS and quickly tried to continue my Tomcat campaign (the last time I was unable to launch from the carrier).
This time it worked, and the new lighting surely prettied up the sim. I was spending too much time grabbing screens and was unable to finish the mission before I had to head out to work.
Nevertheless here are some of them.
This is 8th mission in the campaign (IIRC). Assault on Mozdok. Our task is to sweep the area north of WP1 to clear the corridor for SEAD and then STRIKE packages.
First off goes the eye in the sky:
Me and my wingman waiting on the cats.
A beautiful morning in the Black Sea.
Too bad we’re headed for a war zone…
All set. Giving the salute.
My RIO braces for the best roller coaster ride in the world.
Off we go.
In few seconds my wingman will follow.
Lighting the burners. We have plenty of fuel and a full load of 4 Phenixes, 2 Sparrows, 2 Sidewinders and 2 bags.
Going feet dry.
After establishing orbit at WP1 we got a call from the Hawkeye that bogeys went hot from the north. Time to enage. FOX 3!
I sent 3 Phoenixes in TWS-A mode to 3 bogeys, most probably MIG-23s and maybe MIG-29s.
Terminal phase of 2nd missile, looks like Fulcrum is about to have a bad day.
3rd Phoenix gaining on a Flogger loosing his tank in a hurry.
We have a fireball!
Pilot ejected safely.
Last Phoenix was launched basically WVR. It connected nicely…
Status update from the Hawkeye - skies are clear for the moment, time to push the SEAD flight in.
Unfortunatelly RL ended my fun time right here. Will have to try again tomorrow.
