Awesome shots. Raven One is sooo good too, especially if you’ve never read the book/audiobook and can stage the chapters to match the campaign, that would be a really great experience.

I had a bit of time tonight so started doing the training missions for this baby…and I have to say, so far I really like it! Quite a rocket ship, heh.

My absolute favourite Red plane. Totally gorgeous

Agreed. I was humming and harring what to fly, as I have many modules I haven’t given the attention they deserve, but little time…so I figured the Farmer should be a fairly simple one to learn and it comes with a 10-mission campaign. So far I’m just halfway through the training modules.

I also figured a transition to the -21 wouldn’t be off the cards later down the line if I somehow find the time to fly.

This was my reasoning, but i totally fell in love with the 19. The 21 just feels mental and barely in control but its older brother is just a joy.

Those cannons are epic.

Is the 19 an turning fighter or a B&Z?

Shes at her best like this. It will turn with an F5 for one circle then die.

Ah! Nice, thanks mate.

That summarises the feeling of both planes well, actually. I want to learn to fly the -21, but that thing is so on the edge that I don’t know if I have the headspace to invest in it right now.

The -19 has its quirks by the sounds (I remember reading about some unrecoverable states that claimed a few trainee pilots’ lives back in the day), but it’s definitely way more stable than it’s younger sibling.

The instrument scan takes a bit of getting used to after flying MSFS for a while - airspeed over there, altitude over here, ADI here, VSI over the other side…glorious hero pilot of motherland requires no easy mode six pack layout! Staying on the numbers through the overhead pattern took all my available concentration :joy:

She absolutely accelerates like nobody’s business. She’s an absolute joy to fly.

Also, MiG-21 is easy. Just remember my handy flow chart:

Something is going wrong > You’re too slow, speed up, YOU NEED TO GO FASTER.
My engine flamed out > Oops, too fast, keep it under 2.1/1300kmh, which ever comes first.

I’ve been flying helos in DCS and GA planes in MSFS for a while - 250kts is fast for me at the moment:

I took off with the MiG-19, pushed the afterburner button and started a climbing turn, at 30 degree pitch. I looked over my shoulder as I passed through the broken cloud layer, maybe 30-45 seconds after wheels up, and had a “holy sh*t” moment when I saw how far away and far below the airfield was. Amazing.

I know this will sound annoying- but wait until you get your hands on DCS Eurofighter…
I mean- I did exactly that (reaction and all) in the official Military simulator.

So if HB manages to keep the simulation “real”- DCS Eurofighter will figuratively blow your mind.

I am so so excited for Typhoon. Its my most anticipated module now.

Once we get online again I’ll share a few tips/secrets.
I mean- it was a simulator but I still have 3000 hours in it- give or take.

Rookie numbers. :joy::joy::joy:

(Thats more hours than the RAF’s most experienced pilot on typhoon)

Yeah, maybe- but it was not a structured training-- like I’m still a n00b
