DCS 2.7.X Screenshots (2022)

It really is a fun little module. Interesting to see and experience in the simulation the different take on cockpit ergonomics, avionics set up and the different weapons you can employ with this thing. One thing I have always found interesting is that the aircraft does not have an expensive oxygen generating system onboard like the modern western aircraft we fly in DCS, instead it has an oxygen bottle with limited oxygen for flying. So even though you can equip this aircraft with a refueling probe and stay up in the air, you are limited to the amount of oxygen in the air tank. I’ve built some long range missions where I have to move to lower altitudes on the way back to base due to running out of pressurized oxygen. Kind of fun.

I found out about jf17 cabin pressure when I engaged the enemy and my canopy fogged up…

Thanks! I was real happy with it too!

I’m really liking this Top Gun Aggressor Skin.

I think I like that skin even more!!!

Quick, fun little tour of the new South Atlantic/Falklands map. Puuurdy cool.

FPS was rather good. Graphics near max (2D). 1440p. 2080 Ti. 70-100 fps (monitor capped). Smooth. But that was just me on the map. Have yet to go online with 20-30-40 players.

Man, I have missed a bunch of all your great shots!

Mostly, I’ve just been fooling around with my own low tech Amphib denial mission, trying to “get gud” with the stuff I don’t drop much.

Then I try the Hornet and forget everything I’ve learned!

This is one pretty sim!

In no particular order…

Been fooling around with the Apache lately as well. I am really liking this helicopter even with so much not yet implemented in “early access.” One of the things I enjoy about DCS is the ability to compare various aircraft designs and capabilities within the constraints of course of the computer simulation. It amazes me the difference in design and capabilities between the Hind and Apache. Two helicopters yet very different machines with respect to avionics and capabilities.

Here I’m testing a mission where I’m piloting UK Apache’s in support of the Georgian Republic. We enter the battlefield and stay low, TADS is a great help in locating ENY positions. However my wingman gets shot down eventually and I decide to go deep in ENY territory just to see how low I can go and how far in. I’m basically flying at about 25 feet above the ground, hugging the small hills, staying between trees as my cover and eventually come to a open field with a slight hill in front of me. I chance it and cross over the hill and look what is on the reverse slope, a South Ossetian TOR. I had no chance. Those 30mm guns hurt me good. Neither I or George survived. You can see the damage in the last pic. You also can see the TOR in the field in the background. Scared the hell out of me when it happened.

The other night I took out the F-86F Sabre for a spin in a mission I had made a while ago. Didn’t run into Mig-15s this time but I did enjoy the scenery.

I’m finding several unmarked small airstrips around the Falklands. Man the Herc can land and takeoff almost anywhere.

Cool! Is there a cockpit for the Herk?

Yes, it’s pretty neat even if not as good as official modules.
I have a blast of a time flying it!

Or Google Anubis Hercules mod.

The Herc mod has a pretty decent cockpit although not all systems are modeled. You can occupy different crew positions and do things like open the cargo doors, deploy paratroopers, etc. The external model is excellent and it comes a with a large selection of liveries.

It hasn’t been updated in almost a year now, but rumor is that it’s now being developed as a full paid module by ED.

It’s too bad the runway arresting cable at Mt. Pleasant AB is not functional (yet?). I get it’s early access so perhaps a future update we’ll see it implemented. Another detail that would be cool to see is when rolling over the cable, we experience a slight bump.
