DCS 2.X Video Thread

May I use some of your AI mods inside my project? One of the campaigns is set prior to 1975 and, well, sticking with DCS assets it’s kind of barren.

Thanks for your interest. I think you can safely use the pieces below tech, though the F-8 has a bit of a complicated heritage, where I would need to check if usage outside of Vietnam War Vessels is permitted.

Cheers,
TeTeT

No need for that. I’ll skip it. Thank you.

Excuse some of the audio quality.

Still brilliant. Loved the separation.

Yeah, nice. I’ve spent a bit of time with a few pilots, from the heavies to pointy-nose fighters, and they could all pilot anything, from a small (or large) boat to an aircraft, real or virtual.

I always think about how, muscle-memory issues aside, and lack of physical feedback, these demo’s illustrate the accuracy of the DCS flight modeling.

There is an interview with a German Dora pilot on YouTube. IIRC he was in his 90ies at the time and they sat him down in front of the computer with a HOTAS and rudder pedals and he just took of like it was nothing then continued to take the Dora through its paces. Of course he commented about how he was missing the pants in the seat feedback he was used to but that it basically controlled like he expected it should. That was mind-blowing to me. The way this old chap just took off and flew like it was nothing while I struggled to get the Dora off the ground in one piece

I think this is it, correct me if I am wrong, can’t watch it rn:

Yeah, she said it’s decent. Some minor details she’d love to get polished (the ballooning when you go full flaps, and a few other things).

It looks right (I’ll watch all of it when I get the chance).

Flying the Jug on the PO WWII Server today. Got shot down by a 109 when I let my guard down towards the end.

No, he’s not taking off in this video and seems to struggle with the controls a little bit in the few scenes where he is flying in the sim.

Great interview though. I love is dialect

Okay thanks, I thought he was, must’ve remembered it wrong then. It’s the only video I could find.

First day of the month and I bagged myself a Spitfire:

not sure if I am lagging behind the times, but this amazed me… when they add the save game feature this could be game changing

I discovered the legacy weather system still works for thunderstorms, and revisited the Mossie only to get shredded by a schnellboot.

His points at the start makes sense, at least to me.

Gives a glimpse of how ones time will need to be allocated to ‘get good’ (and what a benefit things like CCIP, and lasers, were for other/later generations of aircraft) - this is what I’d imagine the ‘life’ of real Phantom driver looked like 60-ish years ago.

And the video title is [more] accurate.

PS: The Phantom seems to have something called the “WRCS” but I’ve not had time to delve into that.

Sidebar:
Been using the F-5 more lately myself; I concluded the Phantom is a larger, faster, F-5.
AND! The FPS is noticeably kinder to your PC system - the sensation of flying something is always heightened for me when things are butter smooth.
