I’ll be honest here, a good night’s sleep is seriously doubtful.

1600Z is 0100L for me…on a weekday when I normally have the next day off but some genius decided we needed a staff meeting :poop:

DCS Patch status

Current versions: https://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/

Change logs: Stable changelog

Stable Version

Current version number: 2.9.4.53990

Next planned update: Delayed until 22nd May 2024

Dear all,

during final checks some blocking issues were found and we will require some time to resolve them. We want the F-4E launch to be the best experience it can be so delaying for one day is the best option, thank you for your understanding and patience.

I predict the players’ response to be measured and intelligent.

With the high incidence rate of last minute issues causing delays lately, one would think they would prioritize testing prior to the day of a release instead of procrastinating until the last minute.

Not that I can’t wait. The thought process–or lack thereof–is just baffling.

Just to clarify, the release of the F-4 is unaffected. What changes is the ED/DCS patch.

The testing has been proceeding at ridiculous pace- there was no procrastination- please do not infer.

Problem is that bugs seem to wait until the last minute with showing themselves…
How many times have I said or heard ”but this worked just fine a minute/hour/day/compile ago!” :man_shrugging:

This.

That’s interesting… I’ll pipe up when it appears on steam (and I’m awake that is…)

I don’t mean the HB testing, I mean the ED testing. Running tests 6 hours before dropping a patch when you’ve repeatedly encountered last-minute issues in previous patches multiple times for years shows a clear lack of learning from experience.

If the pace of testing was an issue then the Phantom release could have been set for a later date from the outset.

Another irrational part that isn’t making sense is why not release the Phantom alone, and save the ED patch for later? Kola was released more-or-less alone, and comments here and elsewhere are that the Phantom is fine, it’s just the ED side patch that’s an issue.

Basically Error 404 logic and common sense not found.

Same- it keeps going on at a very sustained rate and it’s not limited to —

Beside that… and the rest of your post you clearly missed a few key words of my latest post

The only two key words you dropped were Phantom unaffected, and no procrastination.

Which still doesn’t address any of what I said.

I beg to differ?

Doesn’t address this:

If the pace of testing was an issue then the Phantom release could have been set for a later date from the outset.

Or this:

Another irrational part that isn’t making sense is why not release the Phantom alone, and save the ED patch for later? Kola was released more-or-less alone, and comments here and elsewhere are that the Phantom is fine, it’s just the ED side patch that’s an issue.

Which further drives the question for why both HB and ED work themselves so hard with such “ridiculous pace” in the first place instead of being smarter about setting deadlines and expectations. A repeated error I have seen over and over again in the decade I’ve been enjoying DCS.

Doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results is insanity. As is my arguing for logic only to get dismissive responses, it seems.
