FYI, Pene of the VAICOM Pro dev team announced a new release today that supports the F-4E and Kola map. Text below from their Discord.
UPDATE 21 May 2024
The latest release version 2.9.5.0 has been pushed to your auto updaters or alternatively available for download from vacicom-pro-download and GitHub.
This update adds the mighty F-4E Phantom II and the Kola Peninsula map.
NB. Minimum tested version of Voice Attack is now 1.12.0
Added F-4E-45MC to the supported modules (No Jester 2.0 yet).
Changed SRS PTT handling on some modules.
Added Kola Peninsula terrain to ATC recipients list. (Bodo must be manually tuned see below known issues)
Known Issues
F-14 A/B Tomcat, wheel chocks must be set then removed in some cases.
AJS-37 Viggen, SRS PTT Mapping remains broken. Heatblur radio device display name issue.
Due to module design, Mirage F1 and A10-C kneeboard is not on the first page
Mirage f1 Kneeboard cover causes issues (recommend deleting it (1.png) from \DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\Mirage-F1\Cockpit\Mirage-F1\Mirage-\KNEEBOARD\pages folders.
Easy comms/Instant select at some airports will not function due to map developers’ incomplete data. Can still be manually tuned. E.g most of the Sinai airports.
The VaicomPro manual needs updating for Kola map and page numbering errors.
I would never, never, choose to take a day off work based on a projected release.
You wait for it to come out, then you take a day off after it’s both out and confirmed that it works and isn’t just broken. It’s like not going in to work because the weather is forecast to be bad/good without waiting to see if it actually turned out that way. If someone “wasted” a day off by doing that, well, that’s 100% their fault for being shortsighted and something tells me it’s the least of their problems.
Not like these things usually come out in the morning anyway (well, depending on time zone) so you’d always want to take the day after so you get all of those work hours spent on it and not just basically start messing with it 3 hours earlier than if you’d worked after all.
I completely agree…but there are some who get so excited about a release that they throw in a vacation day. I’m not one to do that though. Fortunately for me I am not flying this week, so I will be at home for this one. I have had it where a release gets delayed and I find myself starting a two week stint on the road.
I tried the new build of VAICOM with the Tomcat for about 45 mins and it went well. Got started laying out my HOTAS assignments for the stick. Hard to do without the a/c, but this is what I have so far. F-4E stick for comparison.
They put the release vid up even though ED had to postpone till tomorrow (hopefully) the polychop boys have just apologised about a big issue with mp rotor syncing not sure if that’s what could have been the hold up on the patch
Ok…I’m very sorry, and I know We have great Members here @komemiute that have worked tirelessly on this launch, and I certainly appreciate You Sir on your fantastic efforts.
But this module has been 3 years in the making…with multiple, and understandable delays.
The Pre-order was 10/29/23
with a schedule release date of Winter ‘24
Release date was rescheduled because of “Groundbreaking and Phenomenal UI Featues” that are. Conflicting with DCS code.
Release Date”With Huge Hype Trailer “ is marked as 5/21/24
This my friends was a Big Day for DCS…and HB…And They Blew It!!
I’m really very sorry…but I think ED NEEDS some kind of competition or else they really don’t care about deadlines/customers or their own PR.
I respect all my fellow MudSpike Members here…and I always respect your freedom to post within the guidelines that is what MudSpike is all about,
Already sent this off to Pop’s earlier today, asking if it matches up to his nightly routine of running through the start-up procedures to help him fall asleep. lol
