Engine sounds are not from in-game.
Need some AC/DC
I wondered about that. The fly-bys were exceptionally good.
Ooooh… I… wish…
I had the Alpha
of a
Hooornet!
So do I! Then I could be playing it right now!

The video that was released today. How many G’s to do that turn it looked like the plane was stationary as it flipped round. @1.38 on the video
Just pre purchased it so I didn’t miss the discount. Now can we have it ![]()
Probably not a whole lot believe it or not, just a ton of alpha (angle-of-attack) and some mighty fine control authority.
That was a nice video. A few things jump out at me after watching that.
- The sound is fantastic.
- The Flight Model seems to behave in a realistic manner. Loved the high AoA, slow pass.
- For some reason the vapor clouds coming off the LERX doesn’t seem look quite right Not misty/defuse enough maybe. I don’t know.
Anyway, I’m really looking forward to flying this one!
Man I need them to hold off on the release for just a little longer so I can snag a preorder lol
I noticed the same thing. I’m guessing it’s a placeholder? It seemed to be a “vapor on- vapor off” thing.
I agree, looks kind of old game/arcade, especially in contrast to the rest of the visuals. Just needs some tweaking.
There’s plenty of time to tweak a purely aesthetic issue.
True enough. Hopefully it is just a placeholder. Obviously not a deal breaker, but in it’s current form, it detracts aesthetically from the rest of the sim, which is visually stunning.
If those are not in-game sounds then Glowing Amraam should get an Oscar for sound engineering. They matched the flying perfectly. Whoever flew it flew it very well. The flight dynamics is very convincing. There was one moment where he pulled down from the top of a Humpty and judging by the vortices he was close to 90 deg AOA. It still keeps impressing.
Asking a stupid question here, but how hard is it to make the game sound like that for the end user?
Not terrible, as 2.5 is released and gets more stable there will probably be a robust modding scene. Might not be as realistic but sometimes playing with cinematic sounds is fun ![]()
The Hornet Flight Demonstration video is made by X-Stounds.
Just bought the Hornet.
ED, don’t make me regret that!
An interesting article on the planned retirement (or putting in storage anyway) of some Hornets:
So reading the comments online - once VFA-34 comes home from their current deployment (currently anchored in Vietnam!), there will be no more legacy Hornets on carriers? Just Rhinos?
The Navy has been moving away from the Legacy Bug for years now. The F-35C was meant to replace the Legacy bugs in the CVW, and as that aircraft was consistently delayed, the Navy instead opted to pursue more Super Hornets in the interim. I can’t remember when the first all Rhino CVW deplored, but I wanna say it was more than a few years back.
Is this the end of Legacy bugs on Carriers? Kinda. The Navy his certainly done. However generally speaking each CVW tries to deploy with four strike squadrons. I don’t know the current composition for the Navy, but historically there have been times they could not find that many available squadrons. In some of those cases they lean on the Marines to provide a sqaudron to make up the difference.
You might still see Marine bugs on a flattop.
