What’s a “training” mission?

There’s a new one I took to give my Sabre guide a coat of fresh paint

It’s a mission where you celebrate the completion of the engine start sequence by drinking a shot. Takeoff - a shot. Gear retraction - a shot. Landing - finish the bottle. You know…training…!

Putting the finishing touches on the first Charnwood campaign update… This is from mission 1 and it must be the 50th time I have bombed that bridge. (I wish I were kidding.)

It would have been easy to throw the incidental smoke effects around at random but they will all be based on either in-progress engagements on the ground or targets that were hit by other squadrons in the last eight hours. (I wish I were kidding about that too.)

These kind of details are fantastic, but will it be noticeable for the player? I can appreciate the effort from a technical and historical standpoint a lot!

Certainly. The briefings run about 15 pages each and a person who takes the time to go through them will recognize precisely what is going on. Those who choose not to read them will just enjoy the pretty sights (and probably get shot down).

That 29.99 Normandy plus asset deal is too enticing now.

I feel like I am becoming known as some kind of a WWII nut although I have spent twice as much time doing modern stuff this year. Here is a sequence from my all-time favorite mission:

This is about 10 minutes from my time-on-target:

Another flight goes in and lights up the target for me. The gif doesn’t come close to doing the scene justice:

Just got Normandy in the sale.

Awesome.

Setting the grass/clutter slider to the full 1500 got rid of trees (and especially their shadows) 'popping up’in front of me, but also halved my framerate so I set it back to 750. tested in ‘empty’ missions only (BF109 takeoff and just a quick let’s put a Mi-8 near Caen)

That’s awesome, @bunyap2w1!
I’ll never forget arming the AJ’s for nightmissions. Working in the dim red light, hanging lightbombs and frags. I ”saved” a safety pin from such an occasion… Must see if I can find it. Should hang it near my sim box

Some screens of a stress test on my new PC

Its all looking rather sweet and in VR I can get 90 FPS in a spit over Normandy, I love it and feel I never quite got near what VR should be like till I upgraded

I feel the need, the need for speed! :f14:
@Cib, I hope you can hold my hand when I upgrade my PC in 2018…!

Sure thing. Just need patience, spectacles and access to the internet

Had some good fun on blue flag yesterday. Desync was a slight issue though.
