haze grey, underway, and probably about to eat an AS-4.

I found a bit of an ‘easter egg’ - a sports car with ED sponsor tags! Can you find it?

You found it, or you crashed into it?

Well - the two aren’t mutually exclusive!

dun dun DUUUUUNNNNNN!!! dundundun dundun dundundun dundun…

I’m spending some time checking out the NTTR from the Red Air perspective lately. Here, I’m playing as ‘Bandit-1’ on the ramp at Tonopah.

They did a really nice job on the airfield and it deserves to have more missions flown from there. Here are a few of the reference photos I sent of the South Ramp where Red Eagles MiG ops took place to help them out. There isn’t really that much to go on:

I get airborne and climb to the east. There is a full Red Flag package heading my way and I’ll try to ambush whatever I can.

I pop up on some F-14s heading West and work my way in for a shot.

Good kill!
(that is, after several terrible, terrible missile shots…)

My air-to-air success is usually short-lived and sure enough, the cavalry came charging in right behind me. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

Tensions are high between Armenia and South Ossetia. NATO has stepped in to safeguard Georgian airspace through air police operations. The crown vic, in this case, is the Eagle.

After a short time aloft, there’s a violation of Georgian air space by an unidentified aircraft. The Eagle’s superb radar picks him up and indicates a speed of only 270~ KTAS, so the threat level seems pretty low. I suspect it’s just some GA or airline traffic. Even though, we can’t rule out ill-intentions and terrorism, so I keep him locked up.

It’s definitely civilian. We close with to complete the intercept and interrogate the crew.

Oh, Christ-on-a-bike, it’s a Yak-40. Complete dookie. I’d offer the flight crew a sweet release from this torment if the ROE permitted.

The Yak-40 is so slow relative to the Eagle, we have to dump flaps to make our job a lot easier.

But, he’s complying with us and we’re set to escort him out of Georgian airspace.

With a formation break, we wish the crew a good day and warn them to file plans with Georgia’s aviation authority before crossing the border next time.

I’m a fan of the lesser used airbases. I do really like Indian Springs / Creech for some reason…

When did Combined Arms get so fun? Man…I had a pretty good time with it tonight. The thermal optics are really cool…and the new terrain contours of the Caucasus really make things flow a bit more. The default missions are pretty overwhelming though…I wish there was a smaller scale (like platoon level) campaign or something…

Hey @Bogusheadbox, fresh meat for Steel Beasts.

Ah…Steel Beasts and Dangerous Waters. They do always call to me.

I’ve written a few missions with Dangerous Waters based on some real world flash points…I may have to reload it…yep, I’m hearing the call.

BTW, does Combined Arms allow you to control naval units?

Not that I’m aware of. Combined Arms is pretty basic in its functionality right now. You may be able to order them to move around, but I don’t think you can jump in and control it.
