1.3 looks the sweet spot for me clever how it was changed on the fly. Will that be good editing?
Snoothly done indeed!
Probably used a track file to ensure the very same flight path/viewpoint, while recording different graphics settings
Hey, can I just copy all the keybind/axisbind from the old 1.5 to the new alpha?
I am sure there was a warning when 2.0 was released about copying files. I however have done for individual modules without any problems
Many thanks!
Iāve made a Normandy tank battle mission that is causing me some trouble. When the tanks start getting within about 4 miles of each other the game stutters badly. This happened in Rise of Flight and 777 posted a guideline for mission designer to limit the number of units within 8 miles of any player. I donāt remember what that limit is but I am way under the number in EDās āBattleā (Ka50) mission. Does anyone have a suggestion? I have 5 squadrons each with 5 US or British tanks versus the same count of German. In the air is me and my wingman and one other 2-ship P-51 flight.
I had 40 bombers carpet bombing with 20 various fighters WWII styleee, no issues, however some of the other modern aircraft appeared to bring fps crashing down when you are visual with them, specifically choppers in MP although I have not tried MP since fridays update. Maybe some of the asset pack is not yet optomised.
How many tanks?
50 tanks total. The Germans attack in groups of 5 separated over a kilometer or so. The Allies rush out of town to defend. The 2 P-51s donāt seem to cause any problems. I was wondering if it had something to do with vehicle formation or maneuvering as opposed to simple the number of units. Iāll keep experimenting.
It didnāt change with 2.1 but I was wondering⦠whatās you guys opinion about the A10C gun?
Seems to be a bit too imprecise⦠and Iām not talking about how it feels so, but someone did actually some mathematical test in game with tanks and all.
But then again, my question is, what do you guys think about it?
Well, good enough for me. I can hit targets from a typical range for engagements as described in real world documents.
Actually I kinda like how the rounds disperse a bit more, because blast and fragmentation damage is modeled poorly (or not at all, repsectively) in DCSW so that way you have a better chance to actually kill infantry, since you need almost direct hits for them.
I rarely attack tanks with the gun, which are the only things that really need more than one or two rounds to kill them. So yeah, doesnāt affect me.
Still: If they changed it to be more realistic I would be happy, because in most cases more realism = better.
Has anyone managed to put down an airstrip in the mission editor? I tried it with an Su-25 mission. Found a field, plonked some armed towers on opposite corners of the strip, and an ammo dump nearby.
Everything showed up in the mission, except the strip. I wondered if there were prerequisites such as level terrain or a certain size of open ground.
I think I read somewhere over at the ED forums that the feature isnāt working yet.
OK thanks - shame, like the locomotives, then.
I wish the release hadnāt had as much effect on the NTTR map. I can handle difficulties with the Normandy map, due its status, but although NTTR is also still āEAā, I had a number of missions I had yet to try, and due to the overly bright cockpits and reflections, it just isnāt going to happen.
Iām happy to give it a break and just fly 1.5 for now, though - I have a number of campaigns Iāve yet to try and who knows - when the merge happens, we may get similar problems, so best to get on with them.

Canāt speed to dispersion values, but my opinion is the GAU-8 is wildly over effective against anything more armored than a BMP.
Hehhe I knew that book.
I muat admit that I always thought that book was overly conservative in regards of GAU 8 firepower
The GAU-8 has about 80mm of penetration at 500m, and thatās assuming a range where youāre in serious danger of running over your target. Anything post the T-55 is going to well in excess that amount of armor. The T-72B and T-80Us that are in game could merrily shirk off GAU-8 rounds to the frontal glacis until the cows come home.
And they did in DCSW the last time I checked. I wouldnāt exactly say it is easy to kill those modern tanks with it.
That was a while ago though. Did they change it in recent versions?
I donāt fly the A-10 much these days due to terminal slowness, but last time I did I remember the gun going through tanks like a scythe through wheat. Something to investigate.
I know it was like that in FC1 and 2, but I donāt recall it being as easy to pepperpot T-80s in FC3, but my memory is old spec.
Edit: Iāll give it a go, and then we will know for sure
Nope - filled up the disused airfield near Kobuleti with T-55s and jumped in an A-10A. Did multiple runs and hit multiple targets - some many times, but all only damaged.
When I finished, after having landed, reloaded and shot off all the second lot as well, a single tank had just a tiny bit of ālifeā left on its bar - so another run would probably have killed it off.
Funny how I actually wanted to put down T-55s, T-62, T-72 and T-80s, but as you can see, they were all T-55s. Oh well. Maybe Iām just a crap shot!
